一旦患上糖尿病,日常飲食就要加以注意,因為飲食計劃直接影響血糖管理,選對食材有助控制病情。新鮮淮山一向是最受歡迎的養生食材之一,亦非常適合糖尿病患者食用,因它有健脾養胃、補肺生津的功效,加上它滑潺潺的汁液為黏液蛋白,有降低血糖的作用;其含有的可溶性纖維,有助消化及控制飯後血糖升高。處理新鮮淮山宜戴手套,因其黏液會刺激皮膚引致痕癢。
食材小貼士:
石斛性寒,有清熱養陰、生津益胃之效,可滋養陰液,特別適合陰虛、熬夜人士服用。
鮮淮山石斛紅蘿蔔湯
功效:滋陰清熱,健脾養胃,紓緩口乾舌燥、皮膚乾燥等症狀。
材料:鮮淮山1根、紅蘿蔔2根、石斛10克、麥冬10克、枸杞子15克、無花果2枚
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨,鮮淮山去皮切大塊;紅蘿蔔去皮切塊備用。
2. 鍋中加入2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

Fresh Chinese Yam can help to control diabetes

Fresh Chinese Yam has always been a popular ingredient, and it is suitable for diabetic patients. This is because it can strengthen the spleen and stomach, nourish the lungs, and induce salivation. Besides, its smooth and thick fluid contains protein that can reduce blood sugar levels.
It also contains dietary fibers that can aid digestion and regulate the blood sugar levels after meals. When preparing fresh Chinese Yam, it is best to put on a pair of gloves as the sap it oozes can irritate the skin.
Tips on ingredient:
Dendrobium is cold in nature. It can clear heat and nourish yin, promote fluid production and nourish the stomach. It is suitable for those with yin deficiency and frequent late nights.
Fresh Chinese yam and dendrobium soup with carrot
Effects: Nourishes yin and clears heat, strengthens the spleen and stomach. Relieves dry mouth and dry skin.
Ingredients: 1 fresh Chinese yam, 2 carrot, 10g dendrobium, 10g radix ophiopogonis, 15g wolfberry, 2 dried fig
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Cut peeled Chinese yam into large chunks. Cut peeled carrots into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hours. Add salt to taste.

雖然還是五月,但天氣熱得要命,當然大啖夏日水果的好時節!從中醫角度來看,每種水果都有其屬性,分為性寒、熱或平和。不同水果亦帶意想不到的功效,還是配合體質進食最緊要。
屬性寒涼!
・山竹・
山竹有「果后」之稱,在厚厚果殼下,藏著一瓣瓣甜美玻璃狀的果肉,此果屬性偏寒,具清熱瀉火、生津止渴、化痰止咳的功效。注意女士月經期間不宜進食。
屬性平和!
・菠蘿・
菠蘿濕熱,才會引起皮膚敏感?在中醫理論中,菠蘿其實屬性平,有消暑解渴及助消化之效,不會引致肚瀉,反具止瀉作用,所以菠蘿其實是非常適合夏天吃用的水果,在烈日當空下遊玩後,偶爾來一片冰菠蘿也不錯!由於菠蘿含有豐富的菠蘿蛋白酶,對這種蛋白酶過敏的人可能會出現皮膚痕癢或腹瀉,才會有濕熱的謬誤,不妨在進食前將菠蘿浸鹽水減低過敏的機會。
屬性溫熱!
・芒果・
芒果性熱,具健脾益胃,止嘔止暈、解渴生津及利尿功效,對於體質偏寒涼和手腳易冰冷的的人甚為有益。由於具有溫補滋潤的特性,本身屬濕熱體質的人不宜多吃,否則會容易上火, 注意糖尿病患者不宜食用。

Different fruits would also have their own healing effects so it is important to choose based on body constitution.
Cold in nature
Mangosteen
Inside that thick shells, there’s a sweet and pretty glass-like meat. Mangosteen is cold in nature, can clear heat, promote fluid production and relieve thirst, relieve phlegm and cough. Note it is not suitable for ladies to have during menstruation.
Mild in nature
Pineapple
Does pineapple cause skin allergy since its damp heat? From Chinese medicine perspective, pineapple is actually mild in nature, it can relieve summer heat and thirst and also aid digestion and relieve diarrhea. Pineapple actually is very suitable to have during the summer. Once you’ve enjoyed some outdoor fun in the heat, try to have a slice of ice pineapple occasionally! Pineapple contains a lot of bromelain and some people may be allergic leading to itchy skin or diarrhea, and that’s why some mistake this for damp heat. You can try to soak pineapple inn salt water first to reduce chance of allergic reaction.
Hot in nature
Mango
Mango is hot in nature, can strengthen the spleen and nourish the stomach, relieve nausea and vomiting, promote fluid production to relieve thirst, and promote diuresis. For those with cold-natured bodies or prone to cold limbs, it is especially beneficial. Due to its gentle tonic and nourishing healing nature, those with damp heat body constitution should not have too much as it will increase fire in the body. Note that diabetic people should not have mangoes.

菠蘿芒果不濕熱
說到夏季當造水果,菠蘿、芒果一定榜上有名。本想大快朵頤,身邊人卻説這些水果「濕熱」,不宜多吃!不過「濕熱」只是指人體致病的原因及體質,並不是指食材的屬性,食材主要分為寒涼、平性、温熱。菠蘿性平,芒果性熱,只要針對體質食用,也會是很好的水果呀!
至於兩者加劇皮膚敏感之説,其實是個別人士因為對菠蘿中的「菠蘿朊酶」敏感,所以吃菠蘿後會產生皮膚敏感症狀,例如發紅、痕癢。只要在食用前,削去果皮、內核,切開果肉並浸泡鹽水,味道更鮮甜外,也可以破壞「菠蘿朊酶」,減低引致敏感的可能性!而《開寶本草》提到「芒果,動風氣,天行病後及飽食後俱不可食之。」芒果肥甘黏膩,容易助濕生痰,影響脾胃功能,亦容易滯澀阻氣,進食後容易腹脹不適,所以易有肚脹、皮膚敏感及過敏體質患者,還有糖尿病患者也不宜食用,飽食後亦不宜再進食。
菠蘿 — 性平,味甘酸澀,具有消暑解渴、消食止瀉的作用,尤其進食太多肉類和肥甘厚味的食物,吃菠蘿可以消滯、助消化及利尿,惟糖尿病患者不宜進食。
芒果 — 性熱,味甘酸,具有益胃、止嘔、止暈、解渴、利尿的作用。多種原因造成的頭暈皆可食用芒果紓緩症狀。適合慢性氣管炎咳嗽、氣喘患者食用。皮膚敏感及過敏體質患者須謹慎食用。糖尿病患者不宜進食。
Pineapple and mango are not damp-heat food
When it comes to summer fruits, pineapple and mango easily come to mind. A lot of people say these fruits are ‘damp-heat in nature’ and that you should not have too much. In reality, "damp heat" only refers to the cause of sickness or body type. It does not refer to the properties of the ingredients. The nature of ingredients are mainly divided into cold, mild and hot. Pineapple is mild in nature while mango is hot in nature. They are great fruits if you eat them according to your body type.
As for the statement that both of them would worsen skin allergy, some people may be sensitive to “bromelain” in pineapple. Therefore, it leads to skin allergy issues such as redness or itchy skin. You can peel and core the pineapple and cut into pieces. Then soak it in salt water to make it sweeter and reduce allergic reaction by destroying bromelain. Mango is fatty, sweet and sticky, and can aid dampness and production of phlegm affecting the functions of your spleen and stomach. Consuming mangoes can also lead to qi stagnation leading to abdominal bloating. Therefore, those prone to have abdominal distension, skin allergy, sensitive body type or diabetic patients should not eat mango. It is not suitable to eat after meal as well.
Pineapple - Mild in nature. Sweet, sour and astringent. It can clear summer heat, relieve thirst, aid digestion and relieve diarrhea, especially good for after eating too much meat or oily and fatty food. Eating pineapple can relieve indigestionand promote diuresis. It is not suitable for diabetic patients.
Mango - Hot in nature. sweet and sour. It can nourish stomach, relieve vomiting and dizziness, relieve thirst and promote diuresis. Dizziness caused by various reasons could be relieved by eating mango. It is suitable for those with chronic bronchitis cough or asthma. Those with skin allergy and sensitive body type should eat less. It is not suitable for diabetic patients.

最高纖:綠色奇異果
綠奇異果有較多果籽,令其纖維量較高,吸收足夠纖維能令平日排更暢順,達到通便效果。
最多維他命C:金色奇異果
金奇異果含有更豐富維他命C,能令我們的抵抗力更好,幫助攝取植物性鐵質,亦可幫助你身體製造骨膠原。
最高抗氧化:彩虹奇異果
彩虹奇異果營養價値最高的是紅肉部分,它含有一些抗氧化色素,例如花青素,能保持我們心血管健康,對眼睛健康有幫助。
雖然奇異果有很高營養,但每日吃一個已經足夠,吃太多反而對身體有不良影響。有研究指出維持了一段長時間攝取過多維他命C,會導致肚痛、肚瀉或感到反胃等情況。另外,奇異果它當中含有一種致敏原,令部分人會對奇異果敏感,進食後輕則感到皮膚痕癢、嘴唇腫痛,嚴重情況下甚至會感到呼吸困難,對其敏感的人就要避免食用了。
