就昨日(12日)香港國際機場宣佈取消航班的事件，《CNN》、《彭博》和《CNBC》等媒體分別發表文章探討對香港及環球經濟的影響。
《CNN》：
「香港國際機場在週一取消近200個航班，對於在這個金融中心營運的公司而言，是個可怕的消息。」
「航班取消提醒了全球企業和香港旅遊業面臨的風險。」
《CNN》引述了香港國際機場貢獻香港GDP 5%的數據。而且，有七家《財富》全球500強企業的總部都設在這裡，包括聯想和長和等。而且，也是很多大型企業和主要銀行的區域基地。未來幾個月的旅客可能取消並重新預訂其他航空公司，以避免香港成為樞紐。
《彭博》：
「香港日益深化的政治危機現在有可能成為經濟危機。」
「短期的擔憂是，香港經濟正走向衰退，因為本地動盪與中美貿易戰結合，打擊零售銷售、壓低房地產價格、引致市值4.9萬億美元的香港股市下跌。」
「更令人擔憂的是，香港作為一個安全和可靠的商業中心地位，將面臨無法彌補的損失。這對於香港這個運用其商業友善聲譽，成為中國與其他國家之間主要門戶的經濟體來說可能會造成致命的打擊。」
《彭博》亦引述了相關數據說明機場的重要性，包括：一）根據法興經濟學家估計，香港國際機場貢獻香港GDP 5%。二）香港國際機場去年處理427,725個航班，是亞洲國際客運量最繁忙的樞紐之一，也是世界上最大的航空貨運樞紐。另外，許多高管可能會重新評估他們往返城市的飛行計劃，這無疑會對公司的日常營運產生影響。
《CNBC》名嘴Jim Cramer：
全球投資者應該更關注香港示威活動的影響，而不是中美貿易戰。在香港機場取消所有航班的數小時後，Jim Cramer表示：「比起貿易談判，中國政府更擔心香港。因為香港在歐洲非常明顯。」「這比貿易談判更嚴重。如果你想知道什麼可能讓全球經濟陷入衰退，那就是香港的癱瘓，這是亞洲的主要金融中心。」
