Limit or even cut off high fructose containing fruits like grapes, lychee, apples etc if you are having high triglycerides (lipids/blood fat), sub-par liver or kidney function, high uric acid or if you have high levels of visceral fat or body fat📈

In continuation from my IGTV latest post, fructose is highly lipogenic (fat & triglycerides producing). It produces 50% more triglycerides than glucose😱

Fructose does not have a high glycemic index. It will NOT stimulate insulin, leptin (suppress appetite), suppress ghrelin, nor stimulate thermogenesis BUT it's metabolized directly by the liver into lipids (triglycerides)❗

Of cause, synthetic man-made fructose which is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) found in soft drinks & junk food are worse compared to fruits. But if you are following a diet high in sweet fruits consumption and drinking lots of fruit juices its can be as damaging‼

So if you know someone who does not eat alot of food and they say they only take plenty of fruits and fruit juice but still has high body fat, perhaps this could be the reason. It's not about the calories. It's how your food is metabolized and stored♻️

My girls love to snack. However, most store bought cookies or tidbits are ladened with lots of sugar ( worst still high fructose corn syrup ), flavoring and chemical additives. I don't trust them.
Which means mummy has to work harder to provide homemade alternatives. Our latest project was to dehydrate fruit slices. As this is our first time so we started simple with two organic apples and one large dragon fruit. Just sliced the fruit into thin slices and arranged them on trays lined with baking paper. Baked on 58c as instructed. That's the easy part.
Now comes the difficult part. 😣😣😣Although 8-12 hours was needed as stated on the manual but the slices were still not crunchy after 24 hours! 😱😱😱 I was expecting crunchy slices that could be easily snapped into half! Well, I added additional 12 hours on 68c which is the highest setting available. Stopped baking even though the texture was still not perfect after 36 hours as I was not sure if my poor dehydrated could withstand such long hours of heating.
My girls didn't mind at all. My older one brought some to school and found her classmates enjoyed the snacks too. The end result was slightly chewy and yummy snack that left a clean and refreshing fruity after taste.
After dinner, the girls finished all the slices in 20 mins. It was a well deserved treat for them after such a long wait, tempted by the fruity scent released by the dehydrator.
Worth the effort? Totally. Not only we learnt abt the process of dehydration, most importantly, we learnt to be patient.
For sure, we will come back for more! Let's see how we can improve the process. Anyone has any experience to share? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

格格们喜欢吃点心如饼干零食之类的。但是御膳房觉得高糖份,又多添加物很不健康,怎么办呢?只好十八般武艺样样精通( 慢慢学啦 ),自己动手做。
这一次要挑战的是干燥水果干。因为是第一次,所以牛刀小试,只用了两颗有机红苹果和一颗大的红肉龙珠果。先把水果切成薄片,排放在垫了烘焙纸的托盘里。虽然根据说明书,只需要8到12小时,但是烤了大约24小时之后,水果片还是没有很脆。只好加到最高温度68c再烤12小时。36小时后水果片依然有少量水份,口感帯韧, 但是水果味很浓,龙珠果种子也很爽翠可口。
格格们一点都不介意的,小孩真的很好骗。😬😬😬 还叫我下一次做多一点可以请同学吃。这次虽然花了很长的时间制作,在20分钟之内就被吃完了!
值不值得这么花这么多时间呢?答案是肯定的。格格们从中学习到食物脱水干燥的过程,也学习到耐心等待结果。下次再试其他水果。请有制作过的朋友一起分享经验吧!

1) Drink more water & know when to drink it.
By not giving our #body enough water, it’s natural “defence” system is to retain water. However, note that #drinking water (or any #drinks) during a #meal will slow our #metabolism. Limit #water intake to 30 minutes before a meal.
2) Cut The C.R.A.P.
When getting your groceries, read the #ingredients on the packages & avoid #food containing:
-Chemicals you don’t use in your own kitchen. Words like: azodicarbonamide, carrageenan, potassium bromate, soy isolate, brominated vegetable oil & partially-hydrogenated vegetable oil.
-Refined sugar & flour. Words like: refined flour, enriched wheat, high-fructose corn syrup & anything ending in –ose.
-Artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors. Words like: saccharin, aspartame, acesulfamepotassium, diacetyl,etc.
-Preservatives. Words like: sodium nitrate/nitrite, BHA, TBHQ, BHT, heptyl paraben & propyl gallate.
3) Don’t starve. Ever.
When you stop #eating, your metabolism slows down radically in order to preserve itself from starvation. So when you finally #eat, your metabolism will digest it at much slower rate (because it was exposed to starvation). Any food left unspent as #energy, will go straight to the #fat cells for storage.
4) Throw out all tempting junk food out of the house
5) Strength before #endurance.
Building #muscle is the most effective way to lose fat; the more muscle you have, the more fat will be spent for each day’s activities. With #weightloss, think of it like this: with weights/#strength #training, you are going from point A to point B by car. With only #cardio/#aerobic training, you’re traveling by bike. You’ll get to the #goal, but much slower & with more pain.
6) Avoid liquid calories (i.e. artificially sweetened beverages & fruit juices) because they contain insane amounts of sugar.Stick to water.
7) Forget about cheat days, your reward is getting #fit
It takes 4 weeks to see your body changing. It takes 8 weeks for your #friends/#family & 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice it. #Dontgiveup. Keep going!
