I described plans for the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Cultural Academy in my 2012 NDR speech (https://on.pmo.sg/2JxxXoi).
I visited the academy this morning and was glad to see that 7 years on, it is a bustling, lively place. Aside from a pre-school and student care, the academy conducts all sorts of activities – speech and drama, dance, robotics, and sport stacking – many of them conducted in Chinese.
The Chinese language, cultural and humanities programmes are offered at different levels, from toddlers to adults. Glad to see how the academy has grown since it was first mooted. I hope to see it scaling new heights! – LHL

In Penang Island,its normal for all races to speak fluent hokkien.. I used to be able to speak quite fluent hokkien during my school days.. but now mostly lupa already lah.. cause kt kl depa ckp mandarin..
I don’t really have lots of frens,and kwn melayu yg close pon sorang dua ja.. Cause my school dulu,majority chinese tp we can get along..
And the best part,we respect each other’s religion and race..

一直有在follow我的朋友應該知道這陣子我在廣州度過我一個月的假期。
於是乎住在香港的兩位youtuber 朋友特地跑來廣州找我拍片，超感謝他們不嫌累來找我玩！
難得不同地方的朋友聚在一起，當然要拍個交流語言文化的影片了。
在和殿下商量過後，決定了這次的主題 港式英文 VS 新加坡式英文。 因為香港和新加坡都是英國曾經的殖民地，所以英文都是一門重要的語言。
在交流之下果然發現新加坡和香港的英文好有自己的特色。
前者是混入了好多福建話&馬來語，後者則是好多懶音&廣東話的特色。
因為這次的影片是跟香港朋友一起拍的，所以理所當然就說起了廣東話啦，這樣才有在廣州的感覺 XD

Hello everyone, I am chacha, welcome back to my channel.
If you have been following me on Facebook and Instagram, you are aware that I am spending my holidays in Guangzhou.
Since Hong Kong is so near to Guangzhou, my friends in Hong Kong took the time to visit me last week. Very thankful that I have this group of friends who are willing to spend their time me as well.
As it is very rare for us to gather, I decided to make a video that is related to culture and language.
After my discussion with them, we decided the theme for this video which is Hongglish vs Singlish.
The reason is that both Hong Kong and Singapore were former British colony and English is an important language.
As you can see from this video, Honglish is largely influenced by Cantonese while Singlish is influenced by Hokkien Malay Cantonese etc…
