🙋 Who hates eating vegetables? I used to dislike the taste of tomato, spinach and think of cucumber as part of "food decoration" that shouldn't be eaten. 😂
.
I didn't grow up enjoying my veggies. I knew nothing about eating healthy. I had to slowly RE-TRAIN my taste buds to enjoy eating healthier and that did not happen overnight or over few weeks. It took years. 😉
.
Even if you can't give up the sweet treats, fast food or junks, you CAN re-train your palate to enjoy more real & natural food overtime. I think most of us tend to pressurise ourselves to change our diet and pretend to "like" healthy food overnight. And when we struggle to "like" eating healthy, we just give up and assume that we're weak or we don't have enough willpower. Guys, habits don't build overnight, habits are build through regular repetition and eventually they become part of you.
.
It's never too late to re-train your taste bud. Here are 5 simple tips to start:
✔️ Mask the texture and appearance. If you do not like the texture or taste of vegetables, mix and turn them into soups. It makes it so much easier to eat.
✔️ Mix it up! Don't just eat vegetables or fruits on its own, serve it in smaller portion with something you enjoy.
✔️ Make small swaps. If you enjoy sweet treats, start swapping sugar with honey or maple syrup instead. Swap heavy cream with yoghurt and take a step further to bake your own cakes / muffins without sacrificing the flavours.
✔️ Give it a chance! Sometimes, we've programmed our brain to dislike a certain food based on the colour, texture or look. Tell yourself to be less judgemental and give the food another chance. You might surprise to find that you actually enjoy it now.
✔️ Give it time. Don't expect your taste bud to change overnight. Keep adding more healthy food into your diet every day, and you'll be making progress.

It's #MeatlessMonday. I recreated one of my favourite dishes in Greece, Briam (roasted mixed vegetables). So yummy, wholesome and filling. 😋 Now food like THIS makes my body and soul happy. ☺️
Here are 3 simple tricks to add more vegetables into your diet and eat less:
1) Start your meal with a bowl of vegetables / salad
2) Fill up 1/2 of the plate with vegetables.
3) Hate your veggies? Then purée and have them as creamy vegetable soup instead.
