DGA ประกาศรายชื่อผู้กำกับ 5 คนที่เข้าชิงรางวัลผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปีแล้ว

สมาคมผู้กำกับแห่งอเมริกา หรือ DGA (Directors Guild of America) ถือเป็นสถาบันที่ค่อนข้างจะเป็นสายตรงของสายผู้กำกับมากที่สุดแล้ว โดยที่ผ่านมาผู้ชนะรางวัลในสาขานี้มักจะไม่ค่อยพลาดที่จะชวดรางวัลออสการ์ DGA ตั้งแต่จากรางวัลมาจนปีนี้ร่วมหกสิบกว่าปี เพิ่งจะทายรางวัลผู้กำกับผิดไปแค่ไม่กี่ครั้งเองมั้ง ที่จำได้คือปี 2002 ที่ให้ Rob Marshall จาก Chicago ได้รางวัลผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยม แต่ออสการ์ดันให้ Roman Polanski จาก The Pianist ได้ไปแทน แล้วก็ล่าสุด DGA ให้Ben Affleck ได้รางวัลผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยมจากเรื่อง Argo แต่ไม่ได้แม้แต่เข้าชิงออสการ์

ที่นอกสายตาหน่อยน่าจะเป็น Garth Davis จาก Lion เพราะเป็นผู้กำกับที่เพิ่งมีผลงานเป็นเรื่องแรก และตัวหนังก็ดูเหมือนจะไม่แรงเท่าที่ควรบนเวทีออสการ์ แต่ดูทรงแล้วคาดว่าคงเป็นการชิงดำกันระหว่าง Damien Chazelle จาก La La Land กับ Barry Jenkins จาก Moonlight นี่แหละ
