你知道台灣擁有亞洲第一所獲得美國認證的公衛學院嗎？AIT昨天很榮幸在台灣大學與陳建仁 Chen Chien-Jen副總統、台大公共衛生學院詹長權院長（1997年傅爾布萊特訪問學者），以及美國公共衛生學院暨學程學會（Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, ASPPH）主席波士頓大學公共衛生學院院長Sandro Galea，共同參加亞洲首屆「ASPPH亞洲學術區域會議」。ASPPH是美國歷史最悠久且最大型的公共衛生學院學會。7位美國公衛學院的院長以及來自15個國家的公衛學界領袖，在台灣齊聚一堂，共同討論公衛教育的未來，以及公衛在應對氣候變遷及高齡化等全球議題所扮演的角色。台灣大學是亞洲數一數二提供全英文公衛碩博士學位的大學。#AITat40 #EducationMonth #教育月

Did you know Taiwan is home to the only U.S. accredited school of public health in Asia? AIT was proud to join Taiwan Vice President Chen Chien-jen, National Taiwan University (NTU) College of Public Health Chan Chang-Chuan (Fulbright, 1997) and Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Chair Sandro Galea, dean of the Boston University School of Public Health, at the first ever ASPPH Academic Regional Meeting in Asia yesterday at NTU. ASPPH is the oldest and largest association of public health schools in the United States. Deans of seven U.S. public health schools joined public health academic leaders from 15 other countries in Taiwan to discuss the future of public health education and the role of public health in addressing global challenges like climate change and aging. NTU is one of the only universities in Asia to offer English language masters and PhD programs in public health!

USAFA is the alma mater of several politicians, astronauts, and heroes. The most famous recent “graduate” is Carol Danvers also known as Captain Marvel. My graduating class was a RTB (Red Tag Bastards) class. The Red Tag is in reference to the “Remove before flight” red tags that hang from military aircraft. Some might say that the RTB classes have a bit more spunk and spirit.

大家好！我是AIT@40活動策劃人卓薇晶。我曾在德州大學阿靈頓分校取得傳播學士學位，並在美國國家大學聖地牙哥分校取得組織領導碩士學位。我從小就深信教育的價值，也因此我特別榮幸能在此宣布AIT將在九月慶祝「教育月」！在九月的「AIT發現好書」中，我想跟大家推薦：《垃圾場長大的自學人生》（Educated）。這本書是前總統歐巴馬推薦的夏季書單，也是暢銷作家泰拉．維斯托的回憶錄。泰拉在書中回溯了她在愛達荷州末世論摩門教家庭的成長歷程，她在17歲前都沒有上過學，卻靠著驚人的毅力，突破重重障礙，最終拿到英國劍橋大學的博士學位。泰拉的故事是教育得勝的故事，也提醒我們知識就是力量。

Hi! I’m Crystal, AIT@40 Campaign Coordinator. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Broadcasting) from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership at National University – San Diego. Education is a value that was instilled in me at a very young age, which is why I am excited to announce that AIT is celebrating Education Month throughout September. Here is my recommendation for ‘Book of the Month’:
Named to Former President Barack Obama’s summer reading list, best-selling author Tara Westover’s memoir “Educated,” is about growing up in Idaho with her Mormon survivalist family that kept her out of the public school system until the age of seventeen. Although Westover faced many hurdles in life, she persisted. Going above and beyond the norm with all odds against her, Tara eventually earned a PhD from Cambridge University. Tara’s story is a victory of education; reminding us all that knowledge is power.
