Meet 3-year old @lilyharleygreen . I’ve known her since she was 10 months old in #Kindermusik at @baumhaus_hk . More than her accurate pitch, notice how she is able to discriminate the nuances of sound quality. At her age, it doesn’t matter yet whether she can sing flawlessly— what matters is that she understands how to correct herself.

This is the difference between just singing notes, versus understanding the process. In the end, musicianship is more important than certificates and exams. A big shout out to my own teacher @nelsoncaruncho for drilling this into my mind and heart ❤️

Oh, and just in case you’re wondering... I don’t believe in hour-long solo classes for really young children. What you’re seeing here is five minutes of solo singing— which we only got to AFTER 30 minutes of making the group “hop like frogs.” Trust the process, and let children play!
