新一年開始,養生從飲食做起,你了解每天吃進肚裡去的食物對你身體有何影響嗎?根據中醫理論,每種食物都有其歸經屬性,簡單掌握食材的四氣和基本功效,有助選擇適合自己體質的食物。四氣是指食物的寒、熱、溫、涼四種性質,例如身體偏熱的人適當食用屬性寒涼的食物,而身體偏寒的人適當食用屬性溫熱的食物就有助平衡體質。再進一步就是多了解食物功效,就以豆類為例,紅豆補血、綠豆清熱、黑豆補腎、黃豆健脾利濕、白扁豆健脾益氣,今年起多了解自己身體需要及食材屬性,按體質需適量進食有關食材,慢慢建立強健身體。
綠豆 — 性寒,具清熱解毒、消暑祛濕功效。有助紓緩中暑、水腫、皮膚痕癢等症狀,適合濕熱體質人士服用。惟注意胃寒、便溏久瀉人士不宜服用。
紅豆 — 性平,具補血和胃功效。有助紓緩集中力不夠、氣血虛弱等症狀。適合各體質人士服用。注意感冒未清者不宜多服。
黃豆 — 性平,具健脾利濕功效,有助紓緩脾虛水腫、無胃口等症狀,適合各種體質人士服用。惟注意過量服用容易引起胃脹,痛風患者忌食。
白扁豆 — 性平,具健脾益氣、消暑化濕功效,因脾虛有濕而食少腹瀉人士尤其適合,亦適合氣虛及痰濕體質人士服用。惟注意容易便秘人士不宜多服。
黑豆 — 性平,具補腎健脾、利水下氣功效。有助紓緩因腎虛引起的腰痛、水腫、容易抽筋等症狀,適合各種體質人士服用。惟注意脾胃虛弱者不宜多服。
Get to know the effects of ingredient
The New year is here and it is time to start a healthy diet. Do you know how the food you consume affect your body? According to Chinese medicine theory, each ingredient has a nature. Knowing the nature concept and basic effects of foods can help you to choose what is right for your body type. Four natures means that foods are categorised into cold, cool, warm and hot. For example, people with heat-like body type can eat cool and cold natured foods, while those with cold-like body condition can eat warm and hot natured foods to balance the body condition. It is also beneficial to understand the effects of food. Taking beans as an example, red bean can nourish blood, mung bean can clear heat, black soya bean can nourish kidneys, soya bean can strengthen spleen and dispel dampness, and hyacinth bean can nourish spleen and promote qi circulation. Let’s learn more about your physical needs and the effects of foods this year. Eat the right amount of food according to your body type and build a strong body over time.
Mung bean- cold in nature, clears heat and removes toxins, relieves summer heat and dispels dampness. It can relieve symptoms of heat stroke, edema, and itchy skin. Suitable for those with damp heat body type. Not suitable for those with cold stomach, loose stool and long-term diarrhea.
Red bean- mid in nature, replenishes blood and stomach. It can relieves symptoms of lack of concentration, asthenic qi and blood. Suitable for all body types. Not suitable for those recovering from cold or flu.
Soya bean- mild in nature, strengthens spleen and promotes diuresis. It can relieve edema from asthenic spleen and lack of appetite. Suitable for all body types. Note that eating too much may cause abdominal bloating, those with gout should avoid.
Hyacinth bean- mild in nature, strengthens the spleen and replenishes qi, suitable for those with diarrhea after eating a little due to asthenic weak spleen with dampness. It is also suitable for those with qi deficiency and phlegm and dampness body type. Note that those are prone to diarrhea should eat less.
Black soya bean- mild in nature, replenishes kidney, strengthen spleen, promotes diuresis and lower qi. It can relieves symptoms like lower back pain, edema, and frequent cramping due to asthenic kidney. Suitable for all body types. Not suitable for those with asthenic weak spleen and stomach.

五大傷肝行為
你有保護好你的肝嗎?中醫理論中的肝,除了是指肝臟器官外,還包括腦及神經系統,因為中醫裡的肝主要負責藏血及疏泄,疏泄是指氣、血、水在身體中的疏通調節功能,而情緒、飲食、睡眠都會影響疏泄功能。現代人生活時間顛倒、壓力大、飲食放縱,傷害肝臟而不自知,以下五大傷肝行為非常普遍,你也有份嗎?
一、熬夜 / 睡眠不足
《黃帝內經》曾提到:「人臥則血歸於肝。」人在睡覺時大量血液集中到肝臟,由肝來濾化血液,所以有充足睡眠才能使身體順利排毒,亦能讓肝臟功能慢慢恢復。如果子時(11pm-1am)還不入睡便屬於熬夜,又或者輪更工作使日夜顛倒,肝不能順利工作,容易造成肝火旺盛、肝陽上亢導致身體不適。
二、情緒起伏不定
中醫理論認為「怒傷肝」,因為肝喜調達而惡抑鬱,當人壓力大,出現緊張、焦慮或憤怒情緒,就會造成肝鬱氣滯的情況;如果憤怒傷肝,就會導致血隨氣上湧,出現吐血或昏厥等情況。
三、飲食不節
辛辣、油膩、加工食物等都會加重肝臟的負擔,此類食物亦容易令人上火,耗損身體內的津液,令身體失於濡潤。
四、吸煙飲酒
吸煙除了有損肺部,煙草中的有害物質亦需要肝臟分解然後排出體外,所以吸煙會增加肝臟的負擔。酒含有酒精,需要經過肝臟代謝,加重肝臟負荷之餘,亦容易令肝臟細胞受損。
五、胡亂進補
不配合體質、過於溫補的食物,容易令身體產生熱氣、肝火上升,如果本身屬於濕熱體質,再胡亂進食藥膳火鍋、人參雞、羊腩煲等,就等於火上加油,造成肝臟負擔。

Mood, diet, and sleep all affect the function of relief. Modern people tend to reverse day and night, have high stress, poor eating habits and harm the liver without knowing it. The following five behaviours that hurt the liver are very common. Have you been hurting your liver?
1. Staying up late / not sleeping enough
When you are sleeping, a lot of blood is concentrated in the liver, and the liver filters the blood. Therefore, adequate sleep can help the body detox smoothly, and the liver function can be slowly restored. Staying up late refers to not sleeping by 11pm to 1am, or when work shifts reverse day and night. The liver cannot work smoothly, and may cause the liver heat and hyperactivity in the liver yang leading to physical discomfort.
2. Mood swings
The theory of Chinese medicine believes that "anger hurts the liver", because the liver does not tolerate depression. When the pressure is high, there is tension, anxiety or anger, which can cause liver depression and qi stagnation. When anger hurts the liver, it will cause blood to rise with qi and may cause vomiting of blood and dizziness.
3. Poor eating habit
Spicy, greasy, processed foods will increase the burden on the liver, and potentially lead to fire in the body which consumes fluid in the body.
4. Smoking and drinking
Smoking not only damages the lungs, the harmful substances in tobacco also require the liver to decompose the substance to dispel from the body. This is how smoking increases the burden on the liver. Alcohol needs to be metabolized by the liver. In addition to increasing the burden on the liver, it can also damage liver cells.
5. Eating tonic food that are not suitable for your body condition
Foods that do not fit the body condition and are too replenishing will lead to fire in the body and raise the liver heat. If you have a damp heat body condition, herbal hot pot, ginseng chicken, lamb brisket pot, etc would actually add heat into the body and increase the burden on the liver.

睡眠好習慣Do’s and Don’ts
對於忙碌的都市人來說,要大家一下子跟著中醫理論改為11時前入睡實在太難,放工後回到家已是8、9點,吃過晚飯梳洗後照顧好孩子們經已是午夜,這時候才可有少許睡前的私人時間放空掃電話煲煲劇,又或是和親愛的談談今天過得如何,因此不強迫大家要做到100分,只是在日常生活中有不少細節可重視一下,養好睡眠好習慣,學懂怎樣才可睡得好又睡得有效!
睡眠好事:
*多曬太陽養好陽氣,氣血暢通就自然睡得好
*咖啡要在午前喝,別讓咖啡因影響睡眠質素
*晚餐不要吃過飽,不給脾胃增加負擔
*放鬆心情,讓腦袋靜下來才能有好覺睡
*胃安則眠寧,養好脾胃也有助好眠
睡眠壞事:
*床上看書滑手機,傷眼耗神更難睡得好
*晚上運動耗陽氣,只會疲累到第二天
*補眠不宜過長,否則影響晚上睡眠
*亂吃補品不一定助眠,你需要的是安心寧神

位置:手掌向上,手腕橫紋處,於尾指的一側,手掌根部末端的凹陷處
功效:安神定志,紓解焦慮
Do's and Don'ts of a Good Night Rest
To ask busy city dwellers to follow Chinese medicine theory and sleep by 11pm can be quite difficult. Most don’t get home until 8 or 9pm at night. After having dinner, cleaning up and taking care of kids, it would be midnight, and this is the short personal time to catch up on phone time, watch some tv, or just have a chat with your partner about the day. Even if it’s hard to get 100 points, try noticing some daily small details and get into some good sleeping habits so you can sleep more efficiently!
Good sleep related habits:
- Sun bath often to replenish your yang qi, with good qi and blood flow comes good sleep
- Have your coffee before noon so the caffeine won’t affect your sleep quality
- Don’t over eat at dinner to give your spleen and stomach added burden
- Relax yourself, a calm mind leads to good sleep
- A healthy stomach gives you good sleep so keep your spleen and stomach healthy
Bad sleep related habits:
- Use your phone on the bed, hurts your eyes and your sleep
- Exercise at night and use up yang qi, you will end up feeling tired the next day
- Don’t sleep too much as it could affect your sleep at night
- Don’t eat tonic food without checking as they may not always help with sleep, you just need to calm your mind.
