已發生之過去的錯誤，
不會輕易從歷史中消失，
而會成為不斷糾纏的傷痛。

今天是臺灣的 #和平紀念日 💐，#德國 國會友臺小組主席魏爾胥所率領的議員訪問團，也前往參觀讓他們很走心的 #二二八和平紀念公園。德國近代歷史的發展，讓他們確信面對歷史傷口，必須要先能 #克服過去，才能真正和解、邁向未來！
談到德國的 #轉型正義，外交部同仁，同時也是 2018 Human Rights Press Awards人權新聞獎得主 ─蔡慶樺，要來跟大家分享一個小故事 💬
1944年，由於戰況吃緊，德軍決定加強建設 #法蘭克福機場 來支援空軍，於是從集中營運送1,700名來自匈牙利的猶太裔女子，並強迫她們進行勞動，直到瘦弱的身軀再也拿不起鏟子，倒臥機場跑道，最後活下來的，只有區區330人...😢 這些倖存者返鄉後，很多再也無法過正常的生活，自殺事件頻傳。
物換星移，機場旁邊的這個小鎮恢復了 #表面的平靜，集中營塌毀，樹木🌳盤根錯節掩蓋了遺址，形成一片森林，小鎮居民們重拾看似「正常」的生活。
直到1972年，當地三個高中生在 #校外教學 參訪集中營遺址，因為好奇研究是否有更多類似遺跡，才意外揭開家鄉這段大家 #絕口不提、#不願記載、#刻意遺忘 的過去...
地方人士無法諒解這三名勇敢少年，並指責他們 #弄髒自己的窩 (Nestbeschmutzung，即 #家醜外揚)... 幾經波折，大家才終於體認到，遮蓋傷口並不會使傷口癒合，於是決定忍痛撕開，讓深層曝露出來，勇於「克服過去」💪
今天，集中營遺址和週邊道路設立了 #歷史教學小徑 🛤，記錄了當時受害者的自白，因為只有

#228和平紀念日
Today is Peace Memorial Day and as the chair of the German-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Klaus-Peter Willsch, is currently leading a delegation on a visit to Taiwan, it was a good opportunity for a visit to the 228 Peace Memorial Park. The notion of ‘Vergangenheitsbewältigung’ in German translates to ‘the struggle to overcome the past’, which acknowledges that wrongs done in history don’t just disappear into thin air, but rather become an endless source of pain.
One of our colleagues, Chinghua Tsai, has a story to share with everyone:
In 1944, the German Army decided to boost their air power, renovating Frankfurt Airport to support the Luftwaffe. They brought in 1,700 young Hungarian Jewish women from another concentration camp and forced them to labor on the project. The exhausting work left all but 330. Many of the survivors were unable to live normal lives on their return home and suicides were frequent.
The little town beside the airport, meanwhile, returned to a semblance of serenity with the concentration camp destroyed and the residents of the town picked up their 'normal' lives again.
It wasn't until 1972, when three boys from the small town visited other concentration camps on a high school trip and started researching concentration camps that they uncovered a forgotten history.
The local people did not understand the motives of the three brave young men and accused them of 'besmirching their own nest' (Nestbeschmutzung). However, covering up wounds doesn't help them heal; we have to endure the pain of exposing their raw depths, to allow the mistakes of the past to be corrected.
In the end the ruins of the concentration camp and the forest path that surrounds them were turned into a historic trail, which includes testimony from the victims and the perpetrators. We have to continue to remember and retell the past in order to overcome it.
