小女子都市俗,在造訪里斯本的Cervejaria Ramiro海鮮餐廳之前,看都沒看過這玩意兒,長得...是不是很像小恐龍的腳!?
.
實際上這是一種貝類(是螃蟹和龍蝦的親戚),俗稱「鵝頸藤壺」,或是「狗爪螺」。吃的方式很特別,使個巧勁兒捏住前面長得像指甲的兩側,扭掉後裡面粉紅色的螺肉就露出來啦。嗯,味道有點熟悉,是大海的味道,像是非常有嚼勁的干貝。

後來我們才知道原來這些長相特別的貝類,都是葡萄牙漁夫冒著生命危險在艱辛的海況下找來的,錢歹賺。漁夫辛苦了!

I had never seen these bizarre creatures in my life before our visit to Cervejaria Ramiro in Lisbon. These are known as barnacles, aka percebes. I don't know about you, but I personally find these visually scarier than chicken feet!

Turned out, barnacles are in the same family as crab and lobsters. In order to get the meat out, you have to hold on to the sides near the "nails" part of the barnacles with your fingers, twist and pinch until the top bit comes loose, and voila!
.
The taste? Somewhat like scallop but with a stronger ocean taste and a tougher texture.

We later found out that harvesting barnacles is an extremely dangerous trade due to the rough sea conditions on the Portuguese coast. Please stay safe fishermen!
