The Crucified King is Now Glorified
“Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”” (Matthew 26:53-54 WEB)
A Roman legion is a formation of about six thousand soldiers, so twelve legions would be seventy two thousand angels!
When I read the passage above, I am awed by Jesus’ love—how He uses His infinite majesty and power in a self-sacrificial way to save us.
Jesus could have chosen to abort the mission of saving mankind at any moment of time.
At one command, He could have legions of angels to kill all those who mocked Him. He didn’t do that—Jesus takes no pleasure in punishing the wicked.
He wasn’t forced to submit to the Father’s will. Jesus chose to obey even until the very end, when He could declared “It is finished!”
The cruel nails pierced His hands and feet, and all the blood in His body was drained out of His lash wounds.
Every sickness and iniquity was laid upon Him, such that His visage was more disfigured than any man.
The King of glory was stripped of His perfect beauty. The fiery wrath of God was poured out upon Jesus and every sin was punished in His body, such that He thirsted from being seared with hellfire.
What kept Him going was the joy waiting on the other side—where mankind could be redeemed and reconciled to God. The vision of a glorious, eternal royal priesthood to God.
I’m so thankful that Jesus didn’t give up on us when the evil men were spitting on Him, pulling his beard, hitting Him and humiliating Him.
Our Lord endured it all and His love for us didn’t diminish one bit. He still believed that we are worth His great sacrifice.
Jesus humbled Himself so low in obedience to the Father to the extent of public death by crucifixion.
He who was rejected by all is destined to be the central focus of worship from all. In the end, every knee will bow & every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!””
(Revelation 5:12)

Why Jesus is Worshipped as the Lamb
“I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!” I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!” The four living creatures said, “Amen!” The elders fell down and worshiped.” (Revelation 5:11-14 WEB)
Why do the heavenly hosts and all creation call Jesus “the Lamb”? This is what I asked the Holy Spirit.
The answer I received is that Jesus is being worshipped for what He did at the cross.
At the cross, Jesus became Abba God’s true Passover Lamb, and was slain so that all men who place their faith in Him will be forgiven of their sins through His blood, spared from judgment, and have eternal life.
“The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29 WEB)
Although Jesus will be the Lion who slays the wicked and rescues Israel in the future, it is His sacrifice as the Lamb that will forever be praised.
The God of glory stepped out of the comforts of Heaven, became a Man, and died an agonizing, humiliating death at the cross to redeem the ones He loves. Such majesty, humility, and pure love!
Notice how Jesus has received “power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing”?
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;” (Ephesians 1:3 WEB)
Every good thing is found in Christ. Apart from Him, you cannot receive them. Don’t look to the world or to yourself for solutions. Receive them from Jesus for you are blessed in Him!
