UFC fighter, Patrick Côté, recently stopped by Tiger Muay Thai in preparation for his upcoming UFC bout. Patrick Côté. Côté(20-8) is a Canadian mixed martial artist who currently fights as a Welterweight and is a 15-time UFC veteran. Côté has fought the likes of Anderson Silva, Tito Ortiz and Cung Lee. He is the former MFC Middleweight Champion, TKO Middleweight Champion, TKO Light Heavyweight Champion, and has also fought in King of the Cage.
Côté, coming off a decision win as Team Canada's head coach in the season of The Ultimate Fighter Nations Canada vs. Australia against Kyle Noke.

This is Côté's second training camp in preparation for an upcoming UFC bout. Côté will be fighting Stephen Thomposn at UFC 178, also on the card is Tiger Muay Thai MMA coach, Brian Ebersole and is headlined by flyweight championship fight between Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso.

Tiger Muay Thai and its staff mourns the loss of the father of our nation, Our Royal Highness, King Bhumibol Adulyadej who peacefully passed away last week.
The Tiger Muay Thai family honored him with a ceremony and a candle light vigil forming the Thai numeral 9 or “๙” as King Bhumibol Adulyadej was the ninth monarch of Thailand who reigned the nation for 70 years.
The song featured in the video is the Royal Anthem of Thailand.

The Wai Khru is taught and practiced every Saturday @ Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp, Phuket, Thailand, from beginner to advanced it is very important to learn and practice this ancient tradition. Wai khru ram muay is an action of respect in Thai culture that is performed by participants in Muay Thai competitions. Wai is an action of Thais to show respect to others by putting the hands together like in prayer. Khru means teacher. Ram means dance in the old Thai traditional style. Muay means boxing. Usually Thais prefer to call it short Ram Muay or Wai Khru. Ram Muay is the way to show respect to the teachers and the trainers. Also, in past muay Thai was usually fought in front of the king, so Ram Muay was also to apologize to the King for the brutality in fighting.

The fighter first performs the Wai Khru, circling the ring three times before kneeling and bowing three times as a sign of respect to God and man. He also bows to Buddha to ask for protection for himself and his opponent and for an honourable fight.

The fighter then performs the Ram Muay, whose simple movements demonstrate a fighter's control and style. Each fighter performs the Ram Muay on each side of the ring to demonstrate his prowess to the audience. The Ram Muay is a personal ritual, ranging from the very complex to the very simple, and often contains clues about who trained the fighter and where the fighter is from.

The practitioner may wear a headband called a Mong Kon and armbands known as Pra Jiad during the ceremony, and the Ram Muay may be accompanied by music. The Mong Kon is unique to Thai boxing and not worn in Cambodia or Burma. http://www.tigermuaythai.com

In this new video by Stuart Cooper we get a look into the mind of UFC Vet Patrick Côté. Patrick is a Canadian mixed martial artist who currently fights as a Welterweight in the UFC, compiling a record of 6-7 in 13 appearances for the organization, and has also fought at Light Heavyweight and Middleweight. He is the former MFC Middleweight Champion, TKO Middleweight Champion, TKO Light Heavyweight Champion, and has also fought in King of the Cage. Côté made his UFC debut in 2004 at UFC 50 against Tito Ortiz. Côté accepted the fight on just four days' notice when Lion's Den veteran Guy Mezger pulled out of the main event due to an injury. He said to Ortiz before the fight that, if he thought Chuck Liddell hit hard, he hit harder. Côté lost via unanimous decision; however, he impressed UFC officials by not being submitted or knocked out by Ortiz and displaying toughness and willingness to take the fight on short notice.

Côté returned to the octagon in 2005 losing his next two fights to Joe Doerksen and Chris Leben. In 2006, Côté was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback, defeating Jorge Rivera and Edwin Dewees in exhibition matches. He advanced to the finale, where he lost by first round submission to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Travis Lutter at The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale in a non-exhibition match. This loss brought Côté's official UFC record to 0--4. Three months later Côté earned his first win in the UFC at UFC 67, defeating TUF4 teammate Scott Smith by unanimous decision. In August 2007, he defeated TUF3 winner Kendall Grove at UFC 74 via TKO in the first round. Côté then fought Drew McFedries at UFC Fight Night, winning in the first round via TKO after catching McFedries with a counter punch. Côté extended his UFC win streak to four fights at UFC 86 by defeating Ricardo Almeida via split decision, also earning him a title shot.
Côté faced UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva on October 25, 2008 at UFC 90. Silva won the first 2 rounds but Côté proved how good his chin was by taking a roundhouse kick and flying knee right on the button without getting rocked in the very first round. In the third round, Côté's movement inside the octagon caused too much pressure on the back of his right leg (which he was using to move forward) and an injury caused him to fall to the mat grasping his right knee in pain. Referee Herb Dean declared the fight over when Côté could not continue, ruling the bout a TKO victory for Silva. Côté, however, became the first of Silva's UFC opponents to make it into the third round.
On January 25, 2009, while taking time off for his surgically repaired knee, Patrick said during an interview with MMA Mania that if he gets a rematch with Anderson Silva he is confident that he will beat him.
