Today was fantastic! I arrived in Tokyo around 7.30am and then took the bus from Narita airport to Tokyo Station because it was cheaper than taking a train lol
(Keidei bus: Narita to Tokyo Station 80 minutes = 1,000 yen)
Then I went on a tour with Hato Bus. It was an open-top double decker city view tour. I got to see Tokyo famous tourist attractions from the second level! We drove through Asakusa, Sumida river, Tokyo Skytree, Akihabara, and Ginza. The tour guide only speaks Japanese, but she gave me an automated audio guide, which helped only a bit because it is not a translation of what she said and probably didnt cover at least 70% that she said lol My favorite part of the tour was Tokyo Skytree! Sooooo pretty :) It was very cold though, but I'm glad I did it!
( Hato Bus Best View Open-Top Drive: Tokyo Skytree = 1,800 yen)
After that, I needed to head to the apartment that I booked through airbnb.com. I was very nervous because the train system in Tokyo looks very complicated and i had to take two trains to get the apartment while dragging my suitcase and my stuff. Turned out that the hardeest part was figuring out how to purchase the Suica card lol I was just so confused, so I decided to asked the ticket seller and he gladly assisted me :) Once i got that down, it wasn't that difficult to get to the apartment. Just a tad bit ... bumbly because I couldn't find the elevator in some places so I had to haul the luggage up and down the stairs... Yup...
(My Suica card = 2,000 yen)
Arrived safely at the apartment around 2 pm. It is much smaller than I thought, but it's very clean and it has everything: water kettle, ectric stove, microwave, vacuumed cleaner, and air-conditon! It's very cozy and very close to a 7/11 so I bought an Onigiri, a bottle of green tea, a garlic cheesebread, and a creampuff! I was super hungry. I ate some and then took a two hour nap because I didn't get much sleep on the night flights.
(Food from 7/11 = 487 yen)
Woke up around 4.50pm to get ready. Left the apartment to go meet my friends in Shinjuku! They are friends who went to the same college in the US, so I was very glad to meet them again. We talked and laughed so much!
(Dinner = 0 yen Paid by my friends <3 )
Then I went to Shibuya station on my way back to the apartment and walked around for a bit. Got to see Shibuya crossing at night too! It was very pretty. I was one of many tourists who were there, trying to get pictures/ videos of people crossing lol #noshame :P
I'm now back in the apartment, waiting for my friends to arrive since they flew a different flight from Bangkok. Today was very eventful and tiring, but I'm very happy to be here <3
Tokyo is awesome.
Can't wait for what's more to come.

Yanaka, o bairro dos gatos!🐱🐈
Quer uma dica local e fora do circuito turístico? YA-NA-KA!

Do you want a local tip and away from turists? YA-NA-KA!
I will explain exactly what we did, because everything went well and i wouldn’t change anything!
🚊We arrived at 10:40 at Nippori station.
☕️ From there we walked to Café Nekoemon, which opens at 11am (we were the first to enter and there was no queue). We chose the set that included painting the small Manekineko, coffee or tea and a wafer (¥ 1,620 / USD14)
🌸If it's cherry season, I recommend going to Yanaka Cemetery, which has a cherry blossom street in the center of it!
🍴From there we continue to Yanaka Ginza, the street full of shops and restaurants! There you have the option of experiencing the famous Mont Blanc from Waguriya, fried food at Ichifuji (いちふじ - orange canopy), make your custom hanko (Shinimono-guru) (take 30min to get ready) and have organic teishoku at Tayori.
🍧If you like kakigori (Japanese flavored shaved ice), go to Hikitsudou, which is nearby, but get ready to queue!
🎥I have saved all stories on “Yanaka” highlights!

In this Tokyo Hidden Spots episode, we explore the downtown (shitamachi) areas of Tokyo and try different types of Japanese street food!
Yanesen, located off the beaten tourist path east of Ueno Park in Taito and Bunkyo wards, is the collective name for the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighborhoods after their first syllables.
Tokyo may have a very modern image to most but if you just go a little bit away from the popular tourist areas you will see a totally different side of Tokyo - a more local, quiet, traditional side.
I love exploring and seeing this side of Tokyo because you can see and learn much more than what's on the surface.
So, if you guys come to Tokyo or live here - try escaping the crowds and get lost in the local backstreets and see what interesting stuff pops up :)
A lot of Japan's traditional side is lost in Tokyo because of what is shown on the media but I hope this video shows you guys a different side of what Tokyo has to offer!!

How to Cook Steamed White Rice (Gohan) in AKOMEYA TOKYO Original Arita Ware Kuroyu (black glaze) Clay Pot
Difficulty: Super Easy
Time: 30min soaking time + 20 min
Number of servings: 4 (2 cups of rice)
Ingredients:
2 rice cups (360ml) = 300g (10.6oz.) Japanese-style rice
400ml water
Directions:
1. Measure the rice with a measuring cup for rice and put it in a bowl.
2. Wash the rice with cold water. As for 2 cups, wash 4 or 5 times. Water does not have to be clear but somewhat clean. Then drain.
3. Place the rice in the pot and add water. Let the rice soak in the water at least 30 minutes.
4. Place the inner lid and upper lid, make sure the holes of both lids won't overlap and arranged to cross each other at right angle.
5. Set the pot on the gas stove and heat on medium high for 10 minutes.
6. Turn off the heat and let it steam for about 10-15 minutes.
7. Toss the rice lightly with a rice paddle and serve.
AKOMEYA recommended cooking time:
1 cup of rice = 8 minutes
2 cups of rice = 10 minutes
3 cups of rice = 12 minutes
NOTE: The amount of water should be adjusted depending on how firm you like your rice and the condition of the rice itself. In particular, the moisture content of new rice is higher, so less water is needed.
Usage Note:
* please wash and dry well after each use
* use only on gas stove
* do NOT use as a deep fryer
* do NOT heat without water in it

Shimbashi is an area in south-east Tokyo with a major station, bars & restaurants. Take a walk around Shimbashi, Shiodome & Ginza with me at night and see what there is!
Shinbashi is popular with Jpaanese salary-men in the evening as a place to go out. I found it a convenient area to stay in Tokyo, with a well-connected station on the Yamanote Line. You can easily walk to Shiodome and Ginza, and it's close to Tokyo Station for the shinkansen. In the video you can see some of the food and places to eat, hotels, a small shrine, a vending machine restaurant, designer shops in Ginza and the beautiful winter illuminations at Caretta shopping mall in Shiodome.
