（Eng below) 我昨天和今天在準備我的展覽。今天晚上很大的地震來😳，我很怕東西變壞的。我很幸運, 在展覽的人告訴我我的畫都ok的。希望其他的地方／人也都沒有問題。這個地震有很奇怪的感覺。（我知道我的中文有錯，我很快寫😅）
I've been hanging stuff and preparing for my exhibition today and yesterday. Then the biggest earthquake in ages strikes 😳! There were a few tense minutes where I wondered if a bunch of stuff had been damaged, especially the drawings balanced on easels. Luckily no damage! Hope everywhere else is ok.
What a weird earthquake too. Almost felt like buzzing at the start.
The other day I went into a bunch of Chinese restaurants as an ordinary but kinda clueless white guy and ordered food in fluent Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). It was a really fun prank and social experiment to see Chinese people’s reactions — both the waiters and the other patrons in these NYC Chinatown restaurants were totally shocked! Thanks everyone for supporting me on my language learning journey — Fuzhounese videos coming up very soon!

The other day we white guys who speak perfect Chinese went out to NYC’s Chinatown to the nail salon. They were “gossiping” about us (in a loving way!), not realizing we spoke Mandarin, and then we totally shocked them by switching to Chinese! We ended up having a really deep and interesting conversation with them in Mandarin and the rare Chinese dialect of Fuzhounese.
So to find out what they are REALLY saying about you at Asian nail salons…just watch the video! It was a funny prank / social experiment but also a really meaningful experience. Plus of course it’s interesting if you’re interested in language learning!

The other day I went into a bunch of typical American Chinese takeout restaurants as an ordinary but kinda clueless white guy and ordered food in fluent Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, and Fuzhounese). Most American Chinese takeout restaurants like this are run by people from China’s Fujian province, so it was fun for them to hear me speak their native but fairly rare language of Fuzhounese!
