在英國不只我聽不懂別人的英國腔，別人也聽不懂我偏美式的英文😂😂😂
姐說：can I have water please? （「water」的唸法如「挖特爾」、那個「啊」音還有「er」捲舌音很重）
服務生：huh？（眼睛瞪大）
姐再說：can I have water? （手比了一下喝水動作）
服務生：oh! You want water （「water」的唸法如「窩特」、完全沒有「啊「音跟捲舌音）

當美國小孩開始操著一口正統英國腔，甚至用上國內沒那麼常見的英式單字時，美國家長這才發現：原來佩佩豬的影響力這麼大。
疫情期間，大家待在家裡看電視的機會變多了，當然也養出了不少電視孩童。由英國公司產製的佩佩豬卡通（Peppa Pig）風靡全球，影響力甚至已擴展到語言學習方面。
這些佩佩豬的忠實小觀眾，不僅發音開始帶上英國腔，還在日常對話中出現連美國家長都滿頭問號的英式語法。
有家長表示，他的孩子竟然講出Father Christmas（英國版的聖誕老人）而不是美國常用的單字Santa Claus。面對這突如其來的轉變，家長一開始還摸不著頭緒，想說這兩個字是在說同一個人嗎？
另一位家住加州的女子馬蒂雅（Matias Cavallin）在推特上說：「連假（Vacation）時，我5歲的孩子竟跟我說她好喜歡這次的假期（Holiday），我告訴她，在我們家只能講美語或西班牙語！」
類似的情況還有很多，第三位家長表示孩子要上廁所時，會用英式的盥洗室（water closet）取代美式的浴室（bathroom），讓她相當驚訝：「我想說她到底是去哪學回來的，難不成她上輩子是鐵達尼號的乘客？」
