Rip
For many pet owners (the irresponsible ones)
If you think by abandoning your pets? Surrendering your pets to the pound or the shelters. It might be the worst choice and the worst decision you have made. If you can't commit to their very last day, don't own one.
The story of Ray, remember ? He was abandoned by his owner on the street, he was blind and old, when someone spotted him, and trying to get him, he displayed aggression, the reason ? He was really scared. He was lost, being a domesticated pet and ended up on the street, being not able to see and of course, to defend for himself, he fights back to whoever that come close to him. During that moment, he was hoping that the one who set him free would be the one that would pick him up but it didn't happen. Imagine being old, blind and helpless? Feeling cold in a place that's totally deserted, he fought to protect himself just waiting for his owner to take him back..
He was apparently picked up by spca when I heard about his case, I was late to have him pick up during that time, but I made a call to spca and told them about his case, n telling them that I would like to bail him out, it took us a week to have him out, imagine being in a pound together with many dogs n cats with similar stories, Ray was one lucky one that I managed to bail out.
We then took him over and have him placed at VFA, things were good for him initially, but shelter is not the best choice for him, he was once from a home, we gave him the best and had him checked when he was unwell, he began to open himself up, slowly getting close to our volunteers, they managed to get him showered, nails trimmed, he trusted us from that moment onwards and he became a sweetheart, he loves one of our volunteer so much that she was the light which he first see and the warmth he first felt. He was a true angel.
But things didn't go on well with him, he had a cardiac arrest and he passed away in the shelter, with no signs, he left for rainbow bridge.
To you, the owner who abandoned him, you caused him this, his heart break, his life. Why did you do that to this sweet angel? How could you,?
If you think that by surrendering your pets to shelters and thinking that they will find their second love, yes some did, but not all, look at ray, shelters might not be the right choice for them where they have already gotten used to home,HOME!!!
Ray left us before we could even give him a second chance to find him a forever home.
Share Ray's story to those who have the tendency to have the chance to give their pets up for whatever reason, this could be one of their suffering , heart broken! The only person they are looking for are the heartless ones who gave them up!
Sorry for the lengthy story.
Regards
Derrick

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: CITY OF TOMOHON PLEDGES COMMITMENT TO END CRUEL DOG AND CAT MEAT TRADE
This weekend, Change For Animals Foundation was in Tomohon (North Sulawesi) with our partner groups of the Dog Meat Free Indonesia Coalition and Animal Friends Manado to meet with government representatives of the City of Tomohon – home to the notorious “Extreme Market” – to discuss the need for urgent action to be taken to end the slaughter of tens of thousands of dogs and cats each week.
Find out more here: www.dogmeatfreeindonesia.org/issues/extreme-markets
We secured commitment from the City that they would take action to end the brutal trades and requested our support to facilitate this change.
Now is not the time to be complacent!
Whilst we welcome the City’s commitment and discussed our grave concerns for animal welfare and public health and safety, we will continue to work hard to make sure words result in strong actions.
So please continue to support us and please continue to take action for Indonesia’s dogs and cats!
