「世界地球日 - 冰河的葬禮」
晚安，我是Rob。
我長期關注環境與氣候變遷，來到英國這兩年最大的目標之一，
是研究北極海冰融化與城市人類活動的關聯，
希望藉由收集的資料轉成藝術創作，
提醒人們重視我們做的所有消費選擇都會給環境帶來巨大影響。
北極聽起來離我們遙遠，
但兩極地區包含全世界70%的淡水，融化是全球性的災難。
又因洋流與大氣活動，
北極近年來發現大量海洋塑膠垃圾堆積、臭氧層破洞的區帶。
去年8月冰島舉行了一場冰河葬禮，
弔念第一個因全球暖化而消失的Okjökull(簡稱OK冰河)，
冰島政府與學者在葬禮上立碑，
碑上刻寫著：「這是封給未來的信。
OK是第一條失去冰河地位的冰河，但未來200 年間，所有冰河都將消失。
此紀念碑是為了記下，我們了解正在發生的事，及應採取的行動。」
遺憾的是OK冰河不是冰島唯一融化的冰川，
島上許多冰川如Skaftafeljökull, Breiðamerkurjökull都很快面臨消失。
去年11月我前往冰島進行田野調查，做為北極計畫的前期研究。
我訪問當地學者與有參加葬禮的居民，
以攝影、錄像、聲音的方式收集環境資料，
回到倫敦後製作成「消融之島 Melting Island」、
「藍色浮游 Blue Ephemera」兩件多媒體藝術創作，
於今年2月在英國皇家藝術學院(Royal College of Art)的聯展中展出。
「我小的時候每年都能在Reykjavik(冰島首都)看到下雪的白色聖誕節，但現在很少在城市裡下雪了。」
一名當地50歲的居民回憶起。
「大量海冰融化改變了冰島周圍的洋流，我擔心20年後這裡將沒有四季，而且冰川融化，島上缺少淡水也將不適生存。」
一名冰島大學的學者述說著。

今天是4月22日：世界地球日(Earth Day)，
分享我在冰島進行田野調查時拍下的一些影像紀錄。
希望下次再見到它時，人們與地景都可愛如初。
即使住在城市裡，我們的每個行為、每次消費都仍對環境至關重要，
讓我們一起為地球多點關心，避免使用一次性餐具、塑膠製品、石化能源，
把這個世界的美好留給自己與下一代吧！

Good night everyone, this is Rob, currently living in London.
I have been concerned about the environment and climate change for many years. One of my primary goals in the past two years in the UK has been to study the connection between the Ice-melting phenomenon in the Arctic ocean and urban human activities around the world.
By creating artistic projects representing the information collected via various methods, I hope to remind people that all the consumption choices we make will eventually have huge impacts on the environment. The Arctic sounds extremely far away from us, yet the polar regions contain 70% of the world’s freshwater, and Ice-melting is a global disaster. Besides, due to the ocean currents and the flow of the atmosphere, in the Arctic, it has been discovered a large amount of floating plastic waste accumulation and ozone layer holes in recent years.
Last August, Iceland held a funeral to mourn the Okjökull Glacier that disappeared due to global warming.
The Icelandic government and scholars set up a monument at the funeral.
“A letter to the future”. “In the next 200 years, all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it,” the inscription on the plaque reads.
After reading the report about the funeral, I went to Iceland for a field study in November last year.
I visited local scholars and residents who participated in the funeral, collected environmental information through photography, video, and sound recordings. After returning to London, I produced two multimedia art creations, "Melting Island" and "Blue Ephemera”, which are exhibited in the WIP show of the Royal College of Art in this January.

On 22nd April: Earth Day 2020, I shared some images I took in Iceland, and hope that people, as well as the landscape, will be as lovely as ever when I visit Iceland again in the near future.
Even if we live in the cities, every behavior and every consumption is still vital to the environment.
Let us care more about our earth, reduce the use of disposable tableware, plastic products, and fossil fuel, protect the beauty of this world for ourselves and the next generation!

Issue 4 : 地景 Landscapes
攝影的觀看，投射出人們對於世界的想像。我們依賴攝影去觀察世界，但世界其實並不在照片之中。我們拍下了外在的事物，實際上看到的卻是內在的風景。這次我們將看看攝影創作者的景物視野與關切。
在這期的《攝影之聲》中，中國攝影師朱鋒從廣告看板裡構築的地景風貌，發掘當代景觀的想像與現實落差；蔣鵬奕透過現代城市與廢墟空間的並置，觸發現代都會繁盛與虛空交錯的衝突心理；在游莉的北方景緻裡，則浮懸著人們渺渺冥冥的存在；而台灣攝影師楊哲一以踏勘中國石灰石礦場，詮釋自然與人為共存的新山水；法國攝影師Mathieu Bernard-Reymond，捕捉同一場景中不斷出現的浮世形影，映射出滄海一栗的百無聊賴。
Artist’s Showcase單元則特別介紹藝術家汪曉青，她在〈母親如同創造者〉中以自己和兒子作為紀錄對象，費時十年以影像書寫母親角色的生命歷程變化。此外這期還收錄了包括資深攝影家莊靈、沈昭良與藝術家陳界仁等創作者及學者，針對「台灣攝影博物館」的成立與發展現況進行的深度對話。
The ways of people looking at the photographs reflects people’s view of the world ; we depend on photography to observe the world, but the real world actually does not exist in the photographs. We might have captured the external world on film, but what we actually see is the internal scenery of our hearts. This time, we will explore how photography creators view the world and their concerns.
In this issue of VOP, Chinese photographer Zhu Feng discovers the difference between the virtual and real contemporary landscape scenery through the pictures of life that advertisement boards construct ; Jiang Pengyi sparks off the psychological clash between the urban prosperity and emptiness by juxtaposing the urban city with abandoned places; You Li paints pictures of the vague and distant existence of humans in her images of the Northern lands; Taiwanese photographer surveys the cement quarries in China and reinterprets the shared shan shui scenery between Man and Nature; French photographer Mathieu Bernard-Reymond captures the repetitive crowds in the same scene and reflects a corner of the mundanity of city lives in his images. The Artist’s Showcase in this issue introduces the artist Annie Hsiao-Ching Wan, who has documented herself and her son for over 10 years in “The Mother as a Creator”, revealing her changing roles as a mother as time passes. Also, experienced photographers Chuang Ling, Shen Chao-Liang and artist Chen Chieh-Jen have an in-depth conversation with creators and academics about the founding and the current developments of the Taiwan Photo Museum.

龍脊位於香港石澳，是指由雲枕山至打爛埕頂山的一段山脊。由於其山巒高低起伏，遠看如有飛龍騰雲之氣勢，故把其山脊稱之為「龍脊」。沿途可飽覽大浪灣、石澳及赤柱景色，曾被選為亞洲區的「最佳市區遠足徑」。
The Dragon’s Back is located at Shek O, Hong Kong, it is a ridge between Wan Cham Shan and Shek O Peak. It was selected as the best urban hiking trail in Asia.

嘉頓山位於深水埗區，又名喃嘸山，名稱來自山下附近的嘉頓廠房，山上能俯瞰深水埗及石硤尾公共屋邨，以及眺望昂船洲大橋，也是欣賞夕陽及九龍舊區夜景的熱點。
Garden Hill is located in Sham Shui Po District, the name 'Garden Hill' refers to Garden Bakery Factory nearby, at the hilltop, the scenes for Sham Shui Po and Shek Kip Mei can be viewed. It is a hotspot for sunset.
