《光》Guang The Movie is a beautiful reflection of the Director’s love towards his craft and his family.
The storyteller, @quekshiochuan has successfully created a rich and deeply moving story based on his real life autistic brother. The story questions the ability of a normal person being able to have a relationship with an autistic person. Relationship of the younger brother (DiDi) with the autistic older brother (Wen Guang) felt like the same sense of responsibility DiDi has with his aquarium. There’s care involved in their relationship but has no clue of what goes on in the minds of both his autistic brother and the aquarium.
The two pronged approach on tackling both DiDi’s frustrating reality and Guang’s simplistic and fascinating inner world successfully created a meaningful emotional experience. In real life, most experiences become meaningful with reflection over time. In this film, it allowed us as audience to enjoy that aesthetic emotion/epiphany both the character’s experience at the end of this film. Guang with his deeply satisfying find of the final note cup and DiDi with his touching realisation of his brother’s hidden world. �
It’s been a while since i’ve watched a locally made film without feeling like i’d have to “give this some chance”. It’s a film that promises endearing memorable characters, laughter and deep joy. Highly recommend everyone to catch it this coming month on the 29th of November. We need more of these film’s in Malaysia. Kudos to the director, writer, actors, cinematographer, sound designer, musician, set designers, lighting department, clothing.. and just everyone on this production! #Guang
