Singapore might be a small country, lacking in natural resources. But we can still press on with tech and policy solutions for sustainable development.

Today, we unveiled the Singapore Green Plan 2030 (www.greenplan.gov.sg). It will build upon our sustainability efforts in decades past, and help us fulfil our commitments under the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

By 2030, Singapore will be greener, with more land set aside for nature parks. We will deploy more solar power, and tap more green energy. You will see more electric vehicles on the roads, and an expanded public transport network. We will recycle more. Schools will become carbon neutral, and students will learn how they can make a difference. We will help SMEs go green, and promote green R&D activities. We will do all we can to combat climate change.

We need to ensure a Singapore for our future generations. All of us have to work together, and make Singapore a bright green spark for the world. – LHL

出席亞洲學術區域會議　與公衛專家共同討論公共衛生教育的過去發展及未來挑戰

今天（24日）上午，我前往台大公共衛生學院出席「第一屆亞洲學術區域會議」，並以「全球公共衛生學術發展」(The State of Academic Public Health Globally)為題，在大會開幕式中發表英文專題演講。

在演講中，我特別以生活常見的疫苗做例子，闡述全球公共衛生與流行病學的發展概況。並透過臺灣在研究肝病、慢性砷中毒等事件的經驗與預防，強調公共衛生與預防醫學的重要性。

我非常期盼國內外公衛專家與領袖大家一起努力，經由各種論壇或培訓提升公共衛生教育等方式，期許在2030年前，一起完成聯合國的「全球永續發展目標」（Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs）中消滅貧窮飢餓、降低兒童死亡率、提升產婦保健、對抗病毒、確保環境永續與全球夥伴關係等目標。

今天也非常高興，有機會和美國公共衛生學院暨學程學會（The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health,ASPPH）執行長Laura Magaña、ASPPH主席波士頓大學公共衛生學院院長Sandro Galea及臺大公共衛生學院院長詹長權等，共同針對公共衛生教育的發展以及未來挑戰進行座談，自己深感獲益良多，也希望演講及座談內容對現場的聽眾朋友能有所助益。

Clean up a place that’s full of litter with your friends, and post the before and after photos of it on social media. What a sustainable makeover! Very glad to see this positive, ground-up movement catching on, particularly among young people!

Here in Singapore, groups such as Trash Hero Singapore and Pulau Ubin Cleanup regularly organise cleanup events, and help spread awareness of plastic waste, pollution, and recycling. You can also do something in your neighbourhoods or schools. Big or small, every effort helps. Do volunteer if you’re available! – LHL
