Back in October, Taiwan was ranked by the World Economic Forum as the most innovative Asian country in a list of economies around the world. (source: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/10/these-are-the-worlds-10-most-innovative-economies/)The WEF ranked it fourth globally in innovation progress, ahead of South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, for Taiwans diverse and technology-focused workforce, and for the number of patents founders and corporations have registered, no doubt fostered by the huge number of engineering and computer science grads it produces each year. Not mentioned in this report: the steady growth in startups in the country, and the increased attention paid to boosting startup profiles and funding in the past decade. The AppWorks Ecosystem alone has over 376 startups in its network, and over 1,100 founders, across a range of industry verticals. The ecosystem has contributed over 11,000 jobs to SEA, and has produced annual revenues of nearly US$5 B, or the equivalent of the GDP of the island nation of Barbados! As we go into the new decade, we can expect to see many more strong founders emerge from Taiwan, and many more founders from across SEA make their way to Taiwan to take advantage of its open internet, its e-commerce and AI expertise, and its open-mindedness when it comes to fintech and new protocols like Blockchain. 🔥 COMPUTEX d&i awards, an innovation-focused competition well known to global high-tech industry, announced 60 outstanding winning products from 38 vendors in the “COMPUTEX 2019 Trend Keywords” press conference today.

🏆The 12th COMPUTEX d&i awards, organized by Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan and supervised by TAITRA, received a total of 222 entries from 90 vendors of 9 countries /regions including Taiwan, Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands, South Korea, United State, Hong Kong and China, which is a 5% increase from last year.

The 60 winning products of COMPUTEX d&i awards will enter second round of the contest for Gold Awards and Specialty Awards. All winning products🎖will be displayed at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 I0407 during COMPUTEX 2019.

🔥 今天的「COMPUTEX 2019趨勢關鍵字熱搜」記者會，揭曉「台北國際電腦展創新設計獎」（COMPUTEX d&i awards）得獎名單，表揚來自38家廠商的60件優秀產品。

🏆第12屆COMPUTEX d&i awards由外貿協會委託工研院執行，今年共有來自臺灣、美國、丹麥、德國、法國、荷蘭、韓國、香港及中國大陸等9個國家/地區，總計90家業者報名，包含AIoT等解決方案的參賽產品達222件，較去年成長5%。

本屆60件COMPUTEX d&i awards得獎產品將於5月21日進行第2階段競賽，角逐「金質獎」與「特別獎」殊榮；所有COMPUTEX d&i awards得獎產品🎖將於COMPUTEX展覽期間，在台北南港展覽館1館1樓I0407展出。

Here's some economic and tech news you might have missed in 2019.
