Was going through my gallery and realised that I haven’t shared about my first experience leading a Zumba workout in public. Well, not exactly, leading, but more like assisting a professional instructor during my last gig of 2018.
I was aware of my role however I didn’t know any of the steps until I arrived for rehearsal. I was walked through the steps an hour before the session and of course, I looked pretty clueless. But I know, I needed to roll up my sleeves and get the show going no matter how dumb I might look.
At first, I was a little concerned about my stamina because I haven’t worked out in 4 months due to my injury. I suffered a slight tear at meniscus and had a minor slipped disc.
10 mins into the workout, I felt like I was running out of breath but I didn’t wanna show how tired I was because... of my petty ego 😅
As mentioned by Darlene, the instructor, one very important rule to follow when doing Zumba is to SMILE ◡̈
So for most part of the workout, I was smiling on the outside but dying on the inside 😅
And guess what? I had one of the most amazing experiences ever. I felt alive (again) when sweat trickled down my face and I was drenched in sweat! So much joy and satisfaction which I hadn’t had in a while.
Even though I may looked like a silly potato dancing on the platform, trying to keep up with the steps while ‘looking professional’, I had a whale of a time!
This makes me realised that, when you approach everything with a light heart and as if it’s a big experiment, then it’s not that big of a deal if things don’t work out.
After all, if you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? 😉
Thanks for reading my long ass post and by know, you should know that I can’t dance to save my life! 😅
