I did this sketch to fulfil two porpouses: I wanted to test my new watercolour sketchbook and to make a video showing a full making process. You asked for a video like this but my pictures usually take much too long to do one so I decided to paint something especially with this in mind. Even with this small sketch the video is 1,5h long and it took about 24 hours to render and upload! How do you like a video like this from time to time? Please tell me in the comments!
This is a small tobacco shop I saw on one of our walks recently. I usually take pictures of such places for later use as a reference in my illustrations.

このシンプルな水彩イラストは二つの目的のために描いてみました。新しいスケッチブックを試すのと、初の倍速なしメイキング動画を作ることです。いろんな人からコメントで、カットなしのメイキングを是非見たいといっぱい頂いたため出来るだけ早く描けて面白い物をモチーフにしました。それでも１時間半の動画になり、書き出しに２０時間以上かかりました！こんな動画はいかがでしょう？是非コメントで意見を聞かせてください！
今回描いたのは、いつかの散歩で参考写真を撮った小さな煙草店です。

If you follow me on social networks you probably know that we (me and Kana) moved houses from Tokyo, Waseda to near Enoshima.
Setting up our work space anew took us some time but I could finally sit at my desk yesterday and start painting again.
The first thing I wanted to do was a sketch of our small studio room at Waseda that we just left. I wanted to draw it only from memory so I had to move fast - before I forget where everything was.
This illustration was inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki and especially his watercolour paintings of airplanes, tanks, and fantastic machines where he meticulously marks everything of interest. I love those illustrations even though his writing is intelligible half of the time (even for Kana).

* lines: Copic Multiliner 0.35mm
* paper: White Watson 190g/m B4
The third piece in my new “Tokyo at Night” series that I’m currently painting.
This time I used a photo I took while going shopping late at night with Kana. The bright alcohol shop with a lot of plastic crates and a neon sign caught my eye this time.
Also, I always liked the red (and sometimes green) streets and crossroads that you can find everywhere in Japan and wanted to feature it in this series also.
I used some white, opaque paint for the lighting (window lights, streetlight in the middle etc.) and to add some light blue reflections on the wires.
