Have you ever wondered where the glass bottles you recycled went? There is a glass factory in Hsinchu specializing in recycling and reusing glass bottles. The recycled glass is first purified and categorized, and then is turned into beautiful pieces of art by master craftsmen! Moreover, it is also possible to make used glass into fire-resistant and sound-proofing building materials. Our planet's resources are scarce. Reusing glass is not only eco-friendly, it also enhances glass's market value by transforming it into art works. It's a win-win! :)
2014 AIT 環境領袖營今天來到第二天！學生們參觀了海生館與走訪當地保護區認識生態環境、聽取了台灣企業社會責任專家以及第一家販售公平貿易咖啡的創業家的經驗分享，並且在台日藝術家的指導下，以自然與回收塑材製作藝術品。營隊學生也利用機會瞭解更多留學美國資訊以及各項教育交流計畫。
Today is the second day of the 2014 AIT Environmental Leadership Camp! Over the first two days, students have toured the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and hiked local trails to learn about ecology, listened to speeches on Corporate Social Responsibility, and held a discussion with the entrepreneur who started the first fair-trade coffee shop in Taiwan. Under the guidance of artists from Japan and Taiwan, students created their own art pieces using natural and recycled materials. Campers have also had the chance to learn about study abroad opportunities in the United States and U.S. government exchange programs.
South African artist Ralph Borland has captured the country’s hearts and imaginations with a fleet of charming robots. His current project, African Robots, has led to various whimsical, animalistic creations that incorporate wire art and basic electronics and automation.
