Blood is able to cleanse things from sin because the blood is the life of the flesh—and the wages of sin is death.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life.” ‭‭(Leviticus‬ ‭17:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Law demands justice: the loss of a life to pardon a life.
There is no other way to receive forgiveness of sins.
Good works (bloodless sacrifices) done cannot make atonement for sin.

“According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission. It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.” ‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭9:22-23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The things in Heaven that needed to be cleansed by Jesus’ blood were the belongings of the ruler of the earth—perhaps a throne or seat in God’s throne room where the ruler would go to have an audience with God.

Satan once had access to Heaven even after his first banishment from Heaven because he received Adam’s rulership over the earth when Adam heeded his temptation and sinned.
See how Satan presented himself before Yahweh’s throne in Heaven in Job 1:6-7.

“Now on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before Yahweh, Satan also came among them. Yahweh said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, “From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

However after Jesus’ finished work at the cross, Jesus reclaimed the position of rulership over the earth back from the devil—Jesus became our Kinsman Redeemer that redeemed our inheritance because He has the ability to do so.
After being stripped of his rulership over the earth, the devil is a nobody now.

“wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” ‭‭(Colossians‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The devil desperately fought to retain access to Heaven after Jesus’ ascension, but was utterly cast out—he will never enter it again.

“She gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. Her child was caught up to God, and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that there they may nourish her one thousand two hundred sixty days. There was war in the sky. Michael and his angels made war on the dragon. The dragon and his angels made war. They didn’t prevail, neither was a place found for him any more in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.” ‭‭(Revelation‬ ‭12:5-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

He still rules over all the unbelievers and is their father, but the title deed of the earth doesn’t belong to the devil anymore.

He still masquerades as a powerful ruler but all he has left are lies—he preys on our ignorance of God’s word so don’t be afraid of him—he’s a defeated foe, awaiting his final execution.

What he’s most afraid of is you awakening to the truth of who you are in Christ. When you know that, all fear will be gone and you’ll also know that he has no power over you!

“He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭10:18-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)
