ช่อง Did You Know Gaming? ได้รายงานอ้างอิงจากบทสัมภาษณ์ของ Tsunekazu Ishihara ประธานใน The Pokemon Company ได้เล่าว่าช่วงอดีตที่ผ่านมา ทีมงานเคยได้รับข้อเสนอจากเหล่าสต๊าฟในประเทศอเมริกาให้เปลี่ยนโฉมดีไซน์โปเกมอนใหม่ เพื่อให้แฟรนไชส์สามารถเข้าถึงชาวอเมริกันมากขึ้น

"ในตอนนั้น หลายคนเชื่อกันอย่างกว้างขวางว่าเด็กชาวอเมริกันส่วนใหญ่ ไม่ค่อยอยากเล่นเกมที่มีข้อความ Text เป็นจำนวนมากสักเท่าไหร่นัก และเราเชื่อเกมโปเกมอน จะมีโอกาสประสบความสำเร็จในต่างประเทศเพียง 10% ซึ่งตอนแรก เราได้เผยภาพตัวโปเกมอนให้ชาวอเมริกันดู พวกเขาก็บอกว่า "มันดูน่ารักเกินไป"

แม้จะไม่มีภาพถ่ายดีไซน์ Pikachu เป็นเสือมีหน้าอกให้เห็น แต่หากอ้างอิงจากคำพูดของ Ishihara ที่เปรียบเทียบ Pikachu เหมือนเป็นตัวละครจากหนัง Cats ซึ่งเป็นภาพยนตร์ Musical ยอดแย่ประจำปี 2019 ก็ต้องบอกเลยว่าดีไซน์ใหม่ของ Pikachu โดยชาวอเมริกันจะต้องสร้างความฝันร้ายให้กับแฟน ๆ โปเกมอนแน่นอน
