我第一次來台灣的時候是一個來自香港的學生,那段期間我學會說華語和一點台語,但最有趣的是我留學美國的簽證,就是在美國在台協會台北辦事處拿到的。當年我是以申請人的身分站在簽證窗口前接受官員面談,作夢也沒想到,多年後我竟然站在簽證窗口的另一邊,以美國官員的身分服務前來面談的人!闊別多年,我看到台灣各方面驚人的進步,同時也再次體驗寶島令人難忘的人情、風景,和美食!除了回味我最愛的虱目魚粥和鹽酥雞,我也吃了好吃的楊桃和蓮霧。有一次我一口氣就吃了六個蓮霧!目前我還在尋找好吃道地的蚵仔煎。-- 麥錦良 #FacesofAIT
The first time I came to Taiwan was as a foreign student from Hong Kong. During that time, I learned to speak Mandarin and some Taiwanese. Interestingly, it was at AIT Taipei that I obtained a student visa to the United States. That day I was peering through the interview window as an applicant. Beyond anything I could have imagined, many years later I am now standing on the other side of the interview window, as an officer serving at AIT. Living again in Taiwan, I’ve witnessed Taiwan’s marvelous developments and experienced once again the wonderful and unforgettable culture, scenery, and food! I am happy to be here. In addition to my favorite Milkfish Congee and Taiwan fried chicken nuggets, I also eat the tasty starfruit and wax apples. One time I devoured six wax apples in one sitting!
