Was happy to meet Nicola Padfield, Master of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, today. Fitzwilliam College was Mr Lee Kuan Yew's alma mater. When he passed away last year, Fitzwilliam flew the college flag at half-mast, and held a conference on his legacy (where Ambassador Bilahari Kausikan spoke: http://bit.ly/29t2hl0).
I thanked her and the College for this, and was touched to learn that the college is exploring further ways to honour his memory as well. Thank you, Master, for the meaningful visit. - LHL

Saddened that Mr Jek Yeun Thong, a member of the PAP Old Guard, has passed away. Mr Jek was one of the ten ministers who signed the Separation Agreement in 1965, and played an important role in Singapore’s history.
Mr Jek worked closely with Mr Lee Kuan Yew. He drafted Mr Lee’s first Mandarin election speech, and was Mr Lee’s Political Secretary from 1959 to 1963. After entering Parliament, he served in multiple roles in the Cabinet and in public service until he retired from politics in 1988.
Mr Jek made significant contributions to building modern Singapore. His passing is a deep loss to the nation. To honour his memory and as a mark of respect, all state flags are being flown at half mast today. My deepest condolences to Mr Jek’s wife and family during this time of sorrow. – LHL

Hey Everyone!!!! Today is another regular working day for both me & Matthew. Right up until next Saturday, I would need to cooking & packing lunches for both of us all week long for work. In response to the Ottawa Shooting a few days ago, all Canadian Flags are being flown half mast. It is a very sad thing that happened. We Remember. Nathan Cirillo.
