Can a believer lose his salvation?
““I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the person who hears My word [the one who heeds My message], and believes and trusts in Him who sent Me, has (possesses now) eternal life [that is, eternal life actually begins—the believer is transformed], and does not come into judgment and condemnation, but has passed [over] from death into life.” (John 5:24 AMP)
A few readers have privately messaged me recently about their worries that a believer can lose his/her salvation.
Let Jesus’ words of assurance above sink deeply into your mind and heart.
The moment you first placed your faith in Jesus as Lord, you received eternal life.
You were transformed like how a caterpillar cocoons itself and metamorphoses into a butterfly.
A butterfly can’t never revert to become a caterpillar again.
Likewise, you can’t revert from a son of God to a son of Adam.
It’s too late—you can’t become lost again! Even if you wanted to go to Hell, you can’t. Access denied.
Let this truth really remain in your heart: you’ve passed from spiritual death to eternal life. Your spirit (the true you living inside the body) is forever alive to God.
You are already in eternal life. It is not a reward in the future to be gained for devoted service to God.
It is a gift that was immediately and completely given to you the moment you first placed your faith in Jesus.
Because Jesus took your judgment and condemnation at the cross, you are spared from God’s punishment—that’s mercy.
Because all your sins were imputed (transferred) to Jesus, your Book of Remembrance in Heaven shows that you’ve never even committed any sin—a spotlessly clean record, washed white as snow through the crimson blood of Jesus that was shed for you.
As a righteous spirit, you qualify to receive every blessing and promise of God—they are all “yes” and “amen” to you. That’s God’s Grace.
Yes in the future there will be judgment for everyone, but for a believer, it’s not something to dread. It’s something to be excited about because your eternal rewards are going to be weighed out and given to you.
Every suffering, pain, persecution, attack that you’ve endured by faith in Jesus and every good deed you’ve done in love for Jesus, will receive due rewards.
The Book of Life will be opened to show that you have eternal life, and your Book of Remembrance will be opened to determine your eternal rewards based on your good works. God’s records will work in your favor, not against you!

God’s Books of Memory
“Then those who feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared Yahweh, and who honored his name. They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make, and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn’t serve him.” (Malachi 3:16-18 WEB)
Everything you do in faith is being recorded in Heaven. Even if man does not appreciate the praiseworthy things you do, God has a perfect record of your good works.
“Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10 WEB)
You will surely reap a harvest of rewards by continuing to do good. Keep persevering in it, even if people hurt you, biting the hand that feeds. Remember, you are not doing it to impress people, or to get their appreciation—you are doing it as worship unto the Lord, and He is your Rewarder.
Good works are not for determining whether you are saved or not. You are saved by Grace through faith in Jesus. It is the blood He shed that made payment for your forgiveness of sins.
A born-again believer is already a full-fledged child of God—a new creation in Christ who has passed out of death into eternal life. He cannot be condemned to Hell after being saved. His reborn spirit remains permanently righteous.
Salvation is based on what Christ has done, but rewards are based on what you have done.
““Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work.” (Revelation 22:12 WEB)
For a born-again believer, there are no punishments or condemnation to receive at the judgment seat of Christ—at the cross, Jesus already took all the punishment for your sins.
All that is left is to measure and distribute your rewards.
The records in the Books of Memory/Remembrance shall be used to determine your rewards when you stand before Jesus’ throne for judgment.
Some things you do can cause the loss of rewards.
“I am coming quickly! Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.” (Revelation 3:11 WEB)
The church of Philadelphia was under persecution by Judaizer Jews who wanted them to deny the name of Jesus.
For those who renounce their faith, they will not lose their salvation, but they will not receive a crown.
“Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment.” (James 3:1 WEB)
For those who claim to be teachers of the Gospel, if they teach falsities and heresies, causing believers to be stumbled and led astray, they will lose rewards.
Teachers have more revelation about the truths in God’s word, so when they knowingly teach or practice falsehoods, they will be held more accountable for their actions and lose out on rewards.
They cannot claim to be ignorant like many believers actually are.
How then can a believer maximize their rewards and ensure that time spent in this mortal lifetime will be truly worthwhile?

I was deeply touched by the death of Terry Jones and I was reminded of Monty Python's great work. Back during my time at school the whole class was able to remember every line of their movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Monty Python's Life of Brian".

How far, or perhaps how close, are the endemic leopard cats to life and death? This time, “Orphans of the Earth” joins three orphaned baby leopard cats and records how they have been looked after, trained and released back to the wilds. Spanning over two years for shooting, this documentary also follows the first-ever release and track project of leopard cats in the history of animal conservation efforts in Taiwan. When Duyan the leopard cat fell to death in a well, we were there with the conservation experts, climbing up and down in the difficult paths and picking the bones of leopard cats. The life and death of leopard cats would instantly take us into the cruel world of leopard cats.
The documentary team also joined the latest research project on roadkill leopards, which were dissected, and parasites carefully examined; we also followed up with the cash incentive program of “leopard cat friendly farms”. With this documentary, it is our hope to enhance deeper understanding, compassion and eventually more conservation efforts for leopard cats, the only surviving feline species native to Taiwan. When the habitats are degraded and threats emerge as roadkill, canine-kill, poisons and illegal hunting, the leopard cats are pushed back to crueler survival games when they are released into the wild. It’s estimated by experts that this last native feline specie might disappear in Taiwan within 20 years.
