這首在1981年在榜上雄踞九週冠軍的單曲Bette Davis' Eyes是翻唱曲, 原作在1974年就由Jackie De Shannon及Donna Weiss攜手完成, 七年才由Kim Carnes唱紅, 這首歌倒不是敘述Bette Davis這位傳奇女星生平的傳記歌曲, 而只是做為一個眾人皆知象徵的特質多一些, 歌詞裡面提到的代表性女星並不只有Bette Davis, 還提到Jean Harlow(Her hair is Harlow gold)及Greta Garbo(She got Greta Garbo's standoff sighs)這兩位一樣是古早年代的巨星, 歌曲是敘述一位綜合諸多迷人特質的女子, 然而主軸還是著重在曲中刻劃角色那雙如同Bette Davis Eyes的雙眸散發出來的魅力.

Bette Davis在眾多古早影星中不算擁有最出眾的容貌, 然而這位個性十足的女星過者相當精彩的一生, 不但在幕前, 而在實際生活中都以堅強的意志著稱, 敢愛敢恨的她曾因婚姻失敗與情郎私奔, 也曾因為不合理的待遇與電影公司對簿公堂, 而我想最能顯現個性的五官, 應該就是最足以流露意志的眼神了吧.

而被借來比喻的Bette Davis則是到了歌曲走紅才透過孫女知道竟有一首以她的眼神為題的歌曲

毎日、小さなことでもいい。一つでも幸せを見つけて笑顔でいてほしい。毎日休まず必死で目の前の命を救おうと全力で命をかけて戦っている人、またそのご家族、大切な人に会えない状況にいる人、先が見えなくて不安な毎日を送っている人、今沢山いると思います。どうか今を生き延びてください。ただ、生きていてほしい、無事でいてほしいです。
