I've been following this initiative for a couple of years and find them so continually inspiring 🌟 a community that teaches language and classroom-subjects through their cultural artforms and storytelling 💥
Blaan is one of the largest indigenous people’s cultural groups in Southern Mindanao. They transfer indigenous knowledge, systems and practices from generation to generation through Flalok, their art of storytelling. Through the Philippine-American Fund, the USAID-assisted Flalok Project implemented by Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation is reviving the Blaan art of storytelling to improve literacy among Blaan young and adult learners. To date, the project has provided the following teaching and learning materials: 5,472 Flalok Big books, 240 Teacher Guides, 5,023 Learner Materials, and 500 Alphabet and Number Charts. These materials reinforce the Indigenous Peoples Education and Mother Tongue Based Multi-Lingual Education Programs of the Department of Education. Here is a look at Flalok in action! #LiteracyMonth #AllChildrenReading #MagbasaTayo
