Many people ask me how I got into photography as a lawyer 7 years ago.
�The nature (and the time commitment of course) of my corporate legal job did not suit me at all, and I was constantly stressed and lost. But for the sake of a false sense of security, I stayed until I was qualified.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The final push came when I switched to a US firm after I qualified. Things got worse, and I started developing thyroid and immune system issues. I knew then that it’s way past the right time to leave.
�Many of you actually tell me you can’t quit because you don’t have a passion that you can develop into a career.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But here’s the truth - I quit without knowing I would become a photographer.
�When we are so overwhelmed with our corporate job, we don’t have the mental or physical capacity to develop self awareness, let alone find or develop where our passion or gift lies.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took a few months off back then to reset, and during this period simply pursued what my heart wanted to do.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And as my mind and timetable cleared up, I was able to gain more clarity and give space for things to unfold.

5 ROUTINES TO ACHIEVE YOUR CREATIVE GOALS
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a creative entrepreneur, I have discovered more and more the importance of the system of how we work - especially because our minds are not naturally wired towards structures or systems.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are a few work routines that I find help me a lot in the past 2-3 years in working more consistently, whilst putting in time into new projects and ideas.��(1) setting a goal system list - setting out the next action step you need to get closer to accomplishing each goal and the expected deadline to it - and review the list regularly as things do tend to evolve quickly these days��(2) don’t have too many goals at the same time - decluttering goals is a thing too! (this is one that I struggle with a lot being someone who has too many ideas and too little focus!)

(3) plan your day ahead the night before - transfer anything you may have on your to-do list on to your schedule with time slots assigned to each task (I find with a to-do list with no set time for the tasks, I end up simply not doing it)��(4) getting the important work done in the morning if possible - and leaving all emails, admin work and meetings to the mid-late afternoon when our focus starts to drift (mmm what should I have for dinner?)��(5) having a renewing morning routine that includes 500-800ml of water, physical exercise and a nutritional breakfast!

People always tell me how they love my writing and how I’m so good at it, but for so long I’ve never truly believed it. It all stems back to my teenage years studying in the UK, feeling like I was surely never good enough compared to all the native English speakers. I bought into the lie of it, and because of that, it has always been very hard to accept such compliments. �And I bought into what is ‘good English’ and the (mis)understanding that ‘you got to have good English to be good at writing’, without realising that what is ‘good’ changes with context and time.
I didn’t realise that simply by being who I am, and being open to feeling, expressing and vulnerable - would lead me to writing, and apparently, well.�
How many of you let a lie that you have carried within you for years, a lie that someone told you years and years ago but one that you keep feeding to yourself, to define how you see yourself and hinder yourself from seeing ur own gift to the world?
