Lucasfilm Games ได้ประกาศความร่วมมือกับ Ubisoft ในการสร้างเกม Star Wars แบบ Open World ซึ่งพัฒนาโดย Massive Entertainment ผู้พัฒนาเกมที่เคยมีผลงาน The Division ทั้ง 2 ภาค และทำให้นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่บริษัทนอกเหนือจาก EA ได้มีสิทธิ์ในการพัฒนาเกมในแฟรนไชส์ Star Wars นับตั้งแต่ Disney เข้าซื้อกิจการของ Lucasfilm เมื่อปี 2012 และเซ็นสัญญาให้สิทธิ์แบบ Exclusive กับทาง EA เป็นเวลา 10 ปี

ซึ่งเกม Star Wars จากฝีมือของ Massive Entertainment ยังอยู่ในช่วงต้นของการพัฒนา และกำลังหาทีมงานเพิ่มเติม ดังนั้น รายละเอียดเกี่ยวกับตัวเกมจึงยังน้อยมากๆ แต่ที่ได้รับการยืนยันแล้วคือ คุณ Julian Gerighty ผู้กำกับ The Division 2 และ The Crew จะนั่งแท่นเป็นผู้กำกับฝ่ายสร้างสรรค์ของเกมนี้ และตัวเกมจะใช้ Snowdrop Engine ของทาง Massive ในการพัฒนา ซึ่งทาง Lucasfilm Games ก็ไม่ได้เปิดเผยรายละเอียดอื่นใดเพิ่มเติมนอกเหนือจากนี้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นตัวละคร หรือเกมนี้จะใช้โลกทัศน์ใดในจักรวาล Star Wars
