That sweet reunion.
This boy makes it seem like he hasn't seen me for three years, when we were separated for just three hours.
5th day since school started for him and today, we arrived 20 minutes early so we could sit down on a bench to have breakfast just outside the school. We ate our favourite chocolate donuts, did a cheers with our donuts, smiled and took a wefie, and I gently told him that he would have to go to class on his own and I would see him later.
For someone who has been bawling his eyes out, struggling to change into his uniform, resisting to go near the school and screaming when the teachers carried him, today was a big change. And a positive one.
He looked at me intently while we were eating, made me promise that I wouldn't walk off from the bench, that I wouldn't go home or even to the supermarket downstairs, but instead sit down and wait for him.
With that, he let the teachers check his temperature, sanitised his hands, gave me a tight hug and sweet kiss, before he waved goodbye and went in.
Well, I had to leave the bench at some point lar. Because someone has to go home to cook lunch and do the laundry, right? But, I was the earliest to reach his school and he was the first to come out - which made him over the moon.
Guess we will keep up with our breakfast dates after sending the sisters to school, if it makes him feel more at ease. To more happy school days!
