Have you watched this year's PETRONAS Raya webfilm? I know that so many of us have been touched by the ads created by PETRONAS, and relevant to my situation now... my Son Muhammad had started asking if he should fast and voiced out how he was not going a day without ice cream, sweets and assam (yes those sour candies). My 4 year old only sees fasting as an act of starvation and suppression. He doesn't understand fasting as a form of self discipline and sacrifice, and an act of physical, mental and spiritual cleansing. So how do i explain this?
Well, this @petronasofficial webfilm gives me the idea to begin with empathy.
The act of feeling for another person, caring about their state of well-being or situation, and to focus on the effort of giving acts of service to the less fortunate and family members in need.
It would be amazing if he can understand that fasting allows us to step into the shoes of those with so much less than what we've been blessed with. And the gratefulness that entails as we step back into our own shoes and feel the little luxuries we so take for granted.
