The rain couldn't dampen our spirits as we set off on the inaugural Skechers Friendship Walk and were determined to complete the entire 5km journey together. Woohoo!
The kids were stoked to take part in the carnival games as we waited for the skies to clear and they had fun in archery, cup balancing and the one-legged race. Yup, the hubby and I did the last one together too and I was reminded of how he is not just my life partner but my confidant and best friend too. See more in my stories.
The walk took us nearly two hours and we were one of the last to reach the finishing line because we took time to truly enjoy each other's company, smell the blooms, spot the bugs in the bushes, sing our favourite songs, admire our beautiful skyline and feel thankful for everything in our lives - friends, family, good health, safe country, a happy home and so much more. It was nightfall when we were walking back but that meant we had such a gorgeous, breathtaking scenery to take in too and that was definitely worth the time.
The most fun part was getting all wet and muddy as we crossed the three inflatable obstacles - which were quite empty as most people chose to skip them - and these are the memories that I wish for my kids to hold dear. We dirtied our new, pretty and super comfy shoes from SKECHERS but these can be washed whereas the fond memories will always remain.
We then spent the last part of our night watching the action-packed Black Panther movie under the stars, took our picnic basket and munch on our snacks, bought the last remaining food from the food trucks and stayed till the very end to catch the post-credits scenes. That was before we made our way for supper to celebrate the end of a fun-filled day. Yup, I think we are all energiser bunnies. Haha.
