《紐約時報:美國正在進行至少需時五年的原型疫苗大計劃,抓住未來所有大流行病毒》
美國國家過敏症和傳染病研究所所長 Anthony Fauci 博士在上周二的參議院聽證會上發表重大談話。
從某種意義上說,世界因新冠病毒的疫苗而走運。一個偶然的機會,科學家們剛好花了數年時間研究冠狀病毒,這次病毒的基因序列一公佈,即準確地開發出製造 Covid 疫苗所需的疫苗。
但是,如果下一次大流行來自引起拉沙熱的病毒,或者來自蘇丹埃波拉病毒株,或者來自尼帕病毒,將會發生什麼?

The prototype vaccines project is the brainchild of Dr. Barney Graham, deputy director of the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He presented the idea in February of 2017 at a private meeting of institute directors.
Year after year, viruses had threatened to turn into pandemics, Dr. Graham said: the H1N1 swine flu in 2009, Chikungunya in 2012, MERS in 2013, Ebola in 2014, Zika in 2016. Each time scientists scrambled to try to make a vaccine. Their only success was a partial one, with an Ebola vaccine that helped control the epidemic but would not work against other Ebola strains. The other epidemics waned before the vaccines could be made or tested.
“We were tired,” Dr. Graham said.
But researchers had new tools developed over the past decade that could make a big difference. They allowed scientists to view molecular structures of viruses, isolate antibodies that block the viruses and find out where they bind. The result was an ability to do “structure-based design” for new vaccines that target the pathogen more precisely.
When he heard Dr. Graham’s pitch in 2017, Dr. Fauci was inspired. “It struck me and others in the executive committee as something that is really doable,” Dr. Fauci said.

Happy New Year Everyone! I wish everyone a happy and successful new year, full of wild hot springs. Below is a map of every natural hot spring in Taiwan. Fourty-Eight of these hot springs are on my website and have detailed maps to them. I have been busy revisiting these hot springs and over the next few weeks I will be posting updated photos and maps to make it easier for everyone to visit and enjoy them, and also be posting a few new ones. I hope that everyone can have an enjoyable and safe wild hot spring experience. There are also some I have not visited, I encourage everyone to do their own hot spring explorations, the GPS details are all available on the map below.

It’s going to be a better year!
In 2019 I graduated from Kainan University and I had to transition from being a student with a scholarship, to working and earning a living to support myself. As a result, I was unable to create as many new maps as I did the year before. I will change 2020, expect a lot of great new maps to places you didn’t even know existed. Xiaofei is on the task!
However, there are no ads on my website, and there isn’t going to be. All of that content is distributed for free, and has been so for 4 years now. I want everyone to be able to see Taiwan the I do, and hope that this information will allow you to have new experiences, and perhaps bring you closer to nature.

New Years Announcement 2:
For a long time I have been looking for ways to meet up with other like minded people, and also provide clearer map information and directions. After much difficulty I am finally able to do this. I’ve created a channel a Taiwanese maps app called Doweing. When I am on road trips and traveling around the island looking for adventure partners, I will turn on location sharing and anyone who is interested in joining is more than welcome. This is not a business or tours, I am not a tour guide. I’m just looking for new friends to hike with.
This app is still in development, so it has limited functionality, but it’s very promising. It has better options than the previous app I was using to create maps, and also communication options so no one in the team gets lost. All of the maps on my website have been transferred there. I hope that it will make it easier for people to go out and explore nature in the future.

【English is below】シェア&コメント大歓迎! ストロボ使う時一番重要なことかも!次の4枚は全て、全く同じ設定設定で撮ってます、ただシャッタースピードだけが違います!ISO感度、絞り、ホワイトバランス、ストロボの設定、カメラの位置など、全部一緒です!シャッタースピードで自然光/環境光を、絞り&感度で被写体の露出を調整します!もちろん、ストロボパワーも被写体の露出をコントロールしています!
要するに、ストロボ使うとき環境光/自然光(シャッタースピード)と、絞り&感度(被写体の露出)のバランスで作品が出来上ります!
(一枚目で間違えやすいので、すべての写真は真夜中真っ暗な状態で撮ってます) 昨日ツイッターで見た人がいるかもしれませんが、シェア数がすごかったので、FBにアップします!こういう風にセミナーなどしてるとき、使ってる素材は全部ちゃんと作品で自分で作ります〜
Hey, here is a very sim example if one of the most important things to keep in mind when sing strobes! In all the 4 pictures all the settings - ISO, aperture, white balance, flash power, flash to subject distance, camera position etc. are the same! I only change the shutter speed in each of the photos! With that you can see the big difference! The first shot looks like shot in daytime, although it is in the middle of the night, and the last shot is like in the so called "black box"!
So what i want to say is that in many cases the final result is getting by the balance of those two elements! I usually decide my subject (strobe lit subject) exposure by ISO, aperture & flash settings, and on the other side the ambient light the exposure of everything that is not lot by the strobes is set by the shutter speed! Balance of those two elements makes your final results! This shot had almost 2,000 shares on my Twitter account last night so I decided to share it here as well!

Information on shop holiday
The next day on the first Tuesday every month becomes shop holiday.
It is announced as a sports machine of 600cc class of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. with Intarmot 98(the 1st international motorcycle scooter special trade fair) in 1998, and it is put on the market at the end of the year afterwards. Thai Steak by Jimmy's Table
One of my favorite ways to marinade and grill a steak! It’s got that delicious sweet and savory caramelized taste. It also has lots of powerful flavors from not only the fish sauce, but also the garlic, basil, cilantro, chilies, lime and deep fried shallots/garlic. Enjoy!
Ingredients (食材):
Marinade ingredients:
1 cup sugar (糖) melted to caramel (焦糖)
1 cup of hot water (熱水)
1/2 cup sugar (糖)
3-6 tablespoons fish sauce (魚露)
3 tablespoons of minced garlic (大蒜)
1-2 Spicy Red Chilis (小辣椒) - sliced and used if you want it spicy
2 Limes (青檸檬) - halved and squeezed for juice, seeds removed
1 tablespoon of garlic powder (大蒜粉)
1 tablespoon of ground black pepper (黑胡椒)
Main ingredient:
Beef Short Ribs (牛小排) (Above marinade can be used to make 5-8 steaks. Also you can substitute beef with pork neck! 上面的醬料可以用來醃5-8塊牛排
Cooking oil
Sauce ingredients:
1/2 cup of cilantro (香菜) - chopped, leaves only
1/2 cup of Thai basil (九层塔) - chopped, leaves only
2 Large “non-spicy” red chili - (大紅辣椒-非辣), cut diagonally
1-3 Spicy Red Chilis (小辣椒) - sliced and used if you want it spicy
1 tablespoon of minced garlic (大蒜)
Finishing Ingredients:
1/4 cup deep fried shallots (炸小葱头)
1/4 cup deep fried garlic (炸大蒜)
Step 1
Make caramel by adding 1 cup of sugar into a pot. Heat up the sugar until it melts, but keep an eye out on it. You can always lower the heat so it doesn’t overcook or burn. When the caramel fully melts and starts to brown and bubble up, turn off the heat. Carefully and slowly, add and stir in 1 cup of “hot” water. This part can be quite explosive so be careful not to burn yourself.

Step 2
Once caramel sauce has been prepared, add and whisk in 1/2 cup sugar to sweeten. Add in 3 tablespoons of fish sauce to give it extra flavor and 3 tablespoons of minced garlic. Cut in 1-2 spicy red chilies. Squeeze in 2 limes and taste to see if the sauce is ok. I added 2 more tablespoons of fish sauce as it wasn’t salty and flavorful enough. Add in 1 tablespoon of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of fresh ground black pepper.

準備好焦糖之後,加入1/2杯砂糖,增加甜的風味。加入3湯匙魚露提味,加入3湯匙的大蒜碎,加入1-2條辣椒,加入2顆檸檬汁。可以試試看口味後,依個人喜好調整風味。我另外多加入2湯匙的魚露增加鹹味。接著,加入1湯匙大蒜粉及胡椒粉。
Step 3
Marinate the beef short ribs with the caramel fish sauce and store in the fridge for at least half an hour to an hour. Best result is to marinade a few hours or overnight sealed in a ziplock bag.

使用調好的焦糖魚露醬來醃製牛排,可以放入冰箱大約醃半小時至一小時。最好可以放在夾鏈袋中放入冰箱中醃製一晚。
Step 4
Use the remaining caramel fish sauce marinade to make the sauce to pour onto the finished steak. Add in 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro, 1/2 cup of chopped Thai basil, 2 sliced large red chilies, 1-3 sliced small spicy chilies and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Stir all ingredients to make the finishing sauce.

Step 5
Remove the steaks from the fridge and try to remove small pieces of garlic or red chilies so that they don’t burn when you are pan frying the steaks. Pat the steaks dry so they are also not too wet from the sauce. Also remember to let the steaks rest outside, so they get to near room temperature. A cold steak on a hot pan will only result in an undercooked and raw steak inside.

Add in 1-2 tablespoons oil into a frying pan and heat up until it is very hot. You should see a little white smoke rising from the pan.

Add in the steak to sear on one side until brown, then flip the steak. Add in some of the marinating sauce onto the steak to add to the flavor and help create a brown crust (caramelization) to the steak.

When both sides have a nice brown crust to the steak, check to see if the steak is ready by pressing the meat to check its tenderness. You can use your hand, as a guidance to tell how well the steak is cooked.

當牛排兩面都煎至完美的棕黃色後,輕壓牛排軟硬度來確認牛排熟度。可用大拇指手掌的位置軟硬來對應牛排的生熟度。
Step 9
When ready, remove the steak from pan and place onto a plate to rest the steak. A steak needs to rest for 10 minutes so that the juices get reabsorbed back into the meat. If immediately cut into the steak, the juices will steam and evaporate away leaving the steak tougher.

牛排好了後,起鍋放在盤中需靜置約10分鐘讓肉汁吸收回肉質中。若直接將牛排切開,肉汁會直接蒸發掉,使牛排的肉質變硬。
Step 10
I like to plate this dish by using a nice wood cutting board. Slice the steak diagonally on the board and be sure to cut across the meat grain, so it is more tender when eating it. Spoon on the caramel fish sauce with cilantro, basil and chilies. Sprinkle on deep fried minced garlic and and deep fried shallots, and you are ready to eat!

我喜歡直接用木頭盤子當作擺盤,將牛排直接斜切在木板上,並沿著肉的紋理切,吃起來的肉質會更軟嫩。接著再淋上前面製作好的九層塔香菜牛排醬汁,最後撒上一些炸大蒜碎及紅蔥頭就完成摟!

CB750は1992年に、ナイトホーク750の後継として発売された。当時はいわゆるネイキッドスタイルのオートバイが流行しており、先に発売されていたカワサキ・ゼファー750に対するナナハンとして位置付けられた。これにより車体デザインは、1983年に発売され前代にあたるCBX750シリーズと比較しても、前後輪ホイールを除いては一般的なスタイルで、極めてオーソドックスな車両となっている。
