經分析，美國在疫情襲擊之後，殺人罪的數目在各大城市幾乎都有 2 位數的成長，奧斯汀與芝加哥超過 50%、費城跟紐約都在 25% 上下， 相當可觀。
不過，其他的犯罪，如搶劫、偷竊、強姦等，卻都是下降的。
分析認為，這是因為疫情期間大家都在家，所以強盜、竊賊也不喜歡挑戰人多的房子。而社交場合少，且大家都在家，所以強姦發生機會也減少了。
不過，因為最近的警察爭議，使得警方執法弱化，加上維持社會秩序的各種力量，如：學校、教堂、社區自發守衛隊等，都失去功能，所以青少年與黑道持槍暴力衝突增加。
Technology cuts both ways. While it has undoubtedly made our lives easier, it has also enabled new and insidious types of criminal activity – cyber crime. As Artificial Intelligence becomes more sophisticated, it is becoming more difficult to believe what you see or hear. First, there were fake ads using my photo. Now, criminals are faking voices to trick their victims.
In the first so-called ‘AI heist’, criminals used voice-imitating AI to mimic a CEO’s voice, to trick his MD into transferring several hundred thousand dollars of company funds to them.
Such AI programs can be easily trained to mimic voices and speech patterns from public sources like interviews and YouTube videos. Some programs are available for free, so anyone can download and use deepfake software to recreate anyone's voice.
We have to adapt quickly. Tech companies are developing ways to detect deepfake audio and video. Meanwhile, we should be discerning about what we come across online, whether or not it seems legitimate. Always be careful. If in doubt, check first before you proceed. The fall of any nation is triggered when they have selective action on people and types of crime. While the society is very upset with non-halal meat being brought to the country via a very structured and organised supply chain i.e. cartel, they never questioned the practice of corruption in all types of cartel. While non-halal food has been the hot issue, the corruption was far from it.
We are living in a world of contradiction.
Bila masyarakat Islam memilih dalam menjenayahkan golongan manusia tertentu dan perbuatan jenayah tertentu, itu tanda kejatuhan masyarakat dan negara. Ramai tak puas hati isu daging tidak halal. Ini memang tidak patut. Ini jenayah. Tapi tak ramai pun yang membebel dan mengherdik amalan rasuah di sebalik setiap amalan kartel dalam semua dimensi kehidupan yang lain.
Kita sedang hidup dalam dunia yang penuh kontradiksi.

America isn't a place where I constantly go around feeling afraid or anything, and it's definitely not a place I would consider "unsafe." But it IS a place where I feel like I have to be more guarded and aware of my surroundings, especially compared to Japan. Women in America are raised to be extremely careful of strangers, for example. It's not something that's constantly in the front of our mind, but rather something that is imprinted in the back of our minds so that when we recognize a situation that we've been told about red flags start shooting up all over the place and in that moment we become more guarded and careful.
アメリカは私が常に不安を感じて生活しなければならないような場所では決してありません。しかし、とりわけ日本と比べると、より周囲に気を配り、油断しないように心掛けるべき国だとは思います。例えば、アメリカでは、女性は知らない他人には細心の注意払うべきだと教えられます。生活する上で、常にそれが念頭にある訳ではありませんが、警戒心を煽る状況に遭遇した場合は、油断なく行動するべきだと脳裏に刻まれています。
For example, if I'm walking out to my car in a parking lot at night and there is a van parked next to the driver's side of my car, immediately there will be red flags that go off and I have to think, "Should I ask a worker or security guard to walk me out to my car?"
例えば、夜に駐車場に向かい、自分の車の運転席側の隣にバンが横付けされていたら、すぐに警戒し、警備員に同行してもらうべきかを考えます。
So what I'm tying to say is there are many types of situations that produce red flags for me in America, but the exact same situation in Japan would not produce a red flag for me because it is much more uncommon for something to happen in that situation in Japan that it is in America!
私にとって、アメリカでは色々な種類の警戒心を煽る状況がありますが、それらの状況は、しかし日本ではあまり警戒する必要の無い事が多いのです。
