Was delighted to launch Prof Jayakumar’s new book today. Jaya contributed a lot to Singapore over 31 years in politics. He led important ministries, and played a key role in major events and policies. I am proud to have had him as a mentor and friend.

His memoir, Be At The Table or Be On The Menu, gives an insider’s account of how policies were made and events unfolded. Jaya recounts telling incidents that bring his story to life. Reading the book brought back many fond memories of our time as colleagues.

But despite knowing him for many years, I still learned something new - that Jaya is also a talented amateur painter! (This striking oil painting by him is titled African Sunset.)

Jaya’s book reflects a deep commitment to Singapore. It is also a rattling good read. Hope it attracts the readership it deserves, and inspires others to step up and serve our nation. - LHL

Near the end of 2019 when things suddenly got tough, I realised a lot the things that I enjoyed and took pride in suddenly became soul crushingly difficult. I had always brought my A-game. Then almost overnight, it went away. Just like that.

I spent a lot of time feeling guilt for feeding Isaac and Ayla way too much foods that came out of a packet. Instead of our usual crafts and imaginative play, I let them have hours of screen time. I could barely get out of bed. I felt like I was a failing as a mum and yet I didn’t have it in me to give the way I did like before.

I’ll never forget what my friend Yannie said to me. She said, “Lindy, your mental capacity was never meant to be static”. Depending on our circumstances, our mental capacity expands and shrinks. I did not know this. It completely opened up my world. As someone who enjoyed being proactive, my mental capacity shrunk drastically for the first time in my life. When I tried to push myself past it, I would end up feeling frustrated. It was a relentless circle.

Fast forward a season onwards and thankfully things have gotten much better. Somehow you guys notice too. It’s amazing because your energy really doesn’t lie. A couple months ago, I made a volcano with Isaac and it was a huge moment for me. Somehow, I was back to doing crafts, painting, baking and more. My mental capacity expanded again.

Today, I realised my emotional capacity has not returned to it’s former glory. After breaking up way too many fights and raising my voice more than I would like to, I realised I’m still so very from it. For a moment, I was upset but why should I disregard all my progress? I’m still trying to navigate this journey we call life. I’m not where I want to be yet but the good news is I’m not where I used to be. You don’t have to see the finish line. You just have to keep going. One step at a time. One day at a time. I know a lot of you are sad, angry and stressed during this uncertain time. You probably have a lot you need/want to do but unable to. That’s OKAY! Your mental capacity has probably shrunken. Acknowledge and respect it by being kind and patient with yourself. You got this. #selflove #itsbubz

Hey everyone,

This is a very different type of video. I recently took up painting again and some of you requested a Speed Painting video so here it is. Sit back, enjoy the music and paint with little Bubz.

This is my 3rd painting lesson with Tim Gagnon. He is a fellow Youtuber and amazing artist. I found him a week ago and have been OBSESSED with his painting techniques. His passion inspires me so much and I'm learning so much from him right now.

I'm sharing his channel and website because I'm learning so much from him and sharing the joy. I'm not paid by this or anything. I just think he's great and deserves to be known more. I know a lot of you guys are aspiring artists out there and I know Tim would teach amazing things to you all like I did.

For 2012, I decided to take up painting for one of my resolutions. I loved painting as a child. I was obsessed with art because I can go anywhere through my drawings. It freed me because it allowed me to escape from the busy World.

As I get older, I really realize that the simplest things make me happiest. Sometimes, I feel like the World moves too fast for me. Almost 8 years after High School, I plucked up courage to paint again. Painting somehow slows down time for me because it allows me to be 100% focused on the painting.

for my painting story. I hope it also inspires you guys to go back to your passions. I know we can become occupied with life but really, this has given me back lots of meaning in my life again. I don't think people realize how short life really is so do all the things you want to do that inspires you while you can. Make the most out of it.

I'm still learning from Tim right now (You guys should see his original painting of the one I did lol, it's like...breathtaking!!!). It will be a while for me to be as skillful (or if not, half as skillful) as he is. But one day, I would love to give away one of my paintings to you guys as a gesture. If I ever hit 1 million subscribers- that would be such a special thing to do.

Some of you mentioned I can auction a painting and put the money to charity. That's a great idea but it makes me nervous. It'll be a fun and good cause and I'll work hard practicing for that day.

Hey guys,

Thank you so much for the positive feedback from my last painting video. Some of you were asking for more painting videos to come so I vlogged my most recent painting lesson from Tim Gagnon. It's my last misty forest lesson =( I give all credits of this painting to Tim Gagnon. It was his guidance that led to the completion of this painting.

I can't explain how much your comments meant to me. It really motivates me to improve and maybe someday- maybe I can become a true artist by selling my work. If not- teaching art will be just as rewarding ^_^. I have so much more to learn and it's given my life so much more direction and inspiration.

These types of videos will hopefully show the other side to me. I like beauty, hair and fashion but there's more that inspires me. It also allows me to talk to you guys. I guess... I want you guys to know that despite everything that's happened, I am still the same old Bubz. Youtube has been a great stepping stone for me. It's helped me develop my tshirt range, makeup brushes and has given me countless opportunities. I really realized that happiness doesn't come from success or fame... It's still the little things that make me happiest. It's still the people in my life that keep my days bright. I hope everybody out there will realise their own worth. Nobody is worthless. Everybody can make an impact too, big or small.

Thank you so so much for encouraging me all these years. I've gone from a student to a bum to a mini entrepreneur with you guys by my side. You have no idea how much this means to me. You guys have been my rock to me (without you even knowing). I won't be able to explain how grateful I am but I can explain the surface of my feelings. Now I just want to go back to enjoying the simple things in life. I'm so inspired and now I really believe I can go back into painting and pursue an art career. Thank you so so much! I can't thank you guys enough.

Mm... I contemplated whether I should upload this video because I know this painting isn't my best work but I hope you guys will still see the spirit in it and enjoy the video =)

What does your dreams & goals look like to you? To me, it's like a destination.

This is probably going to be my last forest painting for a while. It's time to move on. I've been practicing painting because I'm planning something special for you guys. Bear with me. I have a terrible habit where I rush my paintings like I did for this one. Always been a problem. Still a problem. Will work on it ^_^

This painting is supposed to look as if it's got 2 totally different layers. As if it's two paintings lapped over one another. Reality Vs Something that doesn't seem Possible. They do come together sometimes through perseverance.

I hope this video speaks to you like it does for me.

Ps. Ironic that Diablo 3 is out today. I got my own copy. Game, Please let me return back to Youtube land. Please don't take away my boyfriend from me lol...
