“A certain type of fun is also portrayed and the idea of how one’s obsession with appearances can create a kind of common ground that can become a sort of brotherhood. It was beautiful to see these three men together, seemingly different but very similar,” Alessandro Michele on the new Gucci Tailoring campaign directed by Harmony Korine in February. Three artists with distinctive style are in a West Coast home with their pets, ASAP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, and Iggy Pop, with his parrot Biggy Pop and a blue hyacinth macaw, at the kitchen table with a pot of spaghetti, at the lounge in the afternoon sunlight. Happy 4 year anniversary to this special video that changed my life! This video is especially meaningful to me because it was my first art video and it went viral coincidentally on my birthday - on January 24th 2012. I'd like to think it was God or the universe's way of pushing me to stop worrying if my art was good enough and start sharing my work instead. :)
I remember feeling a little down the day I turned 25. I thought I'd have everything figured out by then but I was just fresh out of university and more confused than ever. I thought about how at 20, I told myself I'd spend more time painting so I could end up with an art project or exhibition by the time I graduated. Throughout architecture school I never really painted much though, from the fear of my work not being perfect enough. Or maybe it was because of the amount of assignments I had. There was always some sort of excuse. As I lay in bed that night, I told myself that that was to be a year of taking new risks, and of doing things I had not done before, or else I'd be feeling the same way at 30.
In 2011, I got out of my comfort zones. I moved to Shanghai to work as an architect, worked on a bike business idea with my friend Joel, and in the weekends, worked on my art. Some projects failed along the way. In December that year, Joel flew to Shanghai to work on our bike business and he made the mistake of shooting this video. The bike business never took off because this video went viral. My video was uploaded around Christmas, and view counts jumped from the hundreds to half a million in weeks. It blew my mind, it made me want to disappear, it made me feel really silly ("Painting? With a basketball? What was I thinking?!"), but a part of me was also amazed by all that was happening - I was getting recognition for my art. It wasn't a private little project I was sharing with friends and family anymore!
I'm so glad I chose to put myself out there despite my doubts and insecurities. My faith is a big part of my life and I've learned to trust this journey in the past 5 years - all the high highs and the low lows. One of the most rewarding things is how this has allowed me to meet so many new people over the years. I'm thankful for the people who have reached out to guide me, and for people like you guys who continue to support my work. I love how diverse we are from age to culture to location and it made me see that we all want the same things - love, belonging, good relationships. I started creating art with objects to encourage others to see the beauty around them - even in the mundane and ordinary, and I love seeing that look of wonder and possibility in other peoples' eyes. I hope I get to do this for the rest of my life and be able to bring joy and meaning into lives I cross paths with.
I'm overjoyed that my past five years have been the most amazing journey of my life so far. I've also learned that life does not have to be all figured out and that it's OK to wander. Life is a constant journey of learning and discovery.
I'm excited to enter into a new decade of my existence (if you've read till this point you know my age now lol!! You guys are loyal fans haha...and YES I CAN'T BELIEVE IT TOO). I know it'll be amazing...a different kind of amazing!

The ingredients are just bread flour, sugar, salt, dry yeast, and water. This is a simple bread that doesn't require butter or milk. We made this bread thinking about how much we wish it could reach those around the world who are unable to eat. Even though Japan may look like a rich society, there are still many people even here who cannot eat. We want to save people who are in this kind of environment. We want to rid the world of hunger, and distribute food throughout. This is the wish of Mosogourmet.

*Recipe" Makes 24 pieces
1. Add 300g bread flour, 15g sugar, 5g dry yeast, and 5g salt (separate from the yeast) to a bowl.
2. Pour 200ml lukewarm water (30°C) into the mixture, aiming it at the sugar.
3. Mix it all together and then knead the mixture until smooth.
4. Gather the dough into a ball, place it into a bowl that has been lightly greased with vegetable oil, and cover it with cling film.
5. Leave the dough to prove at a temperature of around 30°C for 1 hour. (This is the first proofing).
6. When the dough has roughly doubled in size, transfer it to a worktop, and punch out the gas with your fists.
7. Split the dough into 24 equal pieces.

10. Give the tops of the bread a light sprinkling of bread flour with a tea strainer.
11. Bake the bead in an oven that hasn't been pre-heated at 200°C for 17 minutes. (The time that the oven takes to warm up to temperature will form a sort of second proofing and simplifies this recipe.)
12. Eat your bread and appreciate what you have in life.

This is our baby's first family vacation EVER!!! Our baby, Olivia, is now one year old and we've actually never had a real family vacation with our little baby. So our little baby's first family vacation is going to be a trip to a historical area in Japan--Kochi, Japan. Traveling with kids in Japan is a bit tough as few places have any real resources for kids, but as you'll see from this video, we found the most amazing hotel for both parents and kids. If you're traveling with kids in Japan, we highly recommend it! This hotel in Japan offered us the chance to spend the weekend with them and we are so glad they did. I think our baby had the most amazing first family vacation ever!

◆Hotel
The hotel we stayed at is called The 6th Diary Kahoku Hotel and Resort. It is located near the city of Kochi,Japan. If you're traveling with kids in Kochi, Japan, we HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend staying here. It was every possible amenity and service that a traveling parent could ever require-diapers (yes, you read that right-free diapers for guests!!!), a baby bathtub, baby soap/shampoo, a nursing room in the lobby, two really big play areas right next to the dining room, toys, stroller rental…etc etc. We practically packed nothing when we stayed here! But don't be fooled. This is not a "kiddy" hotel. While they have tons of services for kids, the entire hotel is positively gorgeous. It actually sort of look like some kind of resort destination. You can get more details on the hotel in the link below.

◆Katsura-Hama (Katsura Beach in Kochi, Japan)
If you traveling anywhere near Kochi, Japan, I highly recommend visiting Katsura-Hama (Katsura Beach). First of all, the beach is home to the famous Sakamoto Ryoma statue. Sakamoto Ryoma is an extremely important historical figure in Japanese history and somehow the entire beach was enveloped in a certain aura of strength and power. Not to mention that mountains by the beach are all blanketed with Japanese pine trees. The scene feels like something out of a Japanese film. There aren't a lot of places to dine in this area, though, so I recommend visiting this area NOT during lunch or dinner time.

◆The Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum
This is a great museum to take children to if you are ever in Kochi, Japan. There is a whole wing filled with historical activities for children (including a part of a pirate ship!) and they can also see actual samurai swords-always a plus for the little ones.
https://ryoma-kinenkan.jp/country/en/
◆Kochi Castle (Kochi, Japan)
If you're traveling to Kochi, you really do need to take an hour and a half or so to climb up to Kochi Castle. The inside of the castle is incredible and the view from the top is inspiring. There is also a beautiful model of Kochi during the times of the castle.
