Silky shark, thresher sharks and mobula rays are in trouble. Due to huge demand for their fins, meat and gills, and poor protection measures, these species have suffered declines of over 70%! Right now government representatives from all over the world are meeting at #CITES #COP17 (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) to make decisions about the trade of hundreds of species. This is our opportunity to ensure the protection and preservation of the most at risk species for generations to come. Urge CITES Parties to vote YES to list silky shark, thresher sharks, and mobula rays on Appendix II. #CITES4Seas

Reading the news about this pregnant Great White shark that was found in Yilan just breaks my heart. Dizzy and I love sharks and they have been such a misunderstood species. Dizzy and I also have swam alongside sharks with our friends in Hawaii who just swam with one of the most beautiful Great White (not sure if it’s the same one) a few weeks ago. This 4.7m Great White was pregnant with 15 pups (babies), that means 16 lives were lost. We need to see the greater picture that this species of Great White is still not protected as a protected species in Taiwan. This is not the first time that there has been news about Great Whites being found off the shores in Yilan as it has happened in 2012 and 2008 as well. We need to make a change now as they are listed as an endangered species and to gain the protection they need and deserve, they need YOUR voice too.

A great way to pay tribute to the late Rob Stewart.
The UN is gearing up for #WorldWildlifeDay on March 3rd by launching 5 new species for their #WildForLife campaign. Rob Stewart dedicated his life to saving sharks and ultimately sacrificed his life while filming one of the most endangered of all shark/ray species, the SAWFISH. Rob was so excited to have the chance to film Sawfish, as these distinctive sharks have all but disappeared from our oceans. This is our chance to pay tribute to all that Rob did in service to the cause, and to help carry his work forward. Vote for sawfish and add your voice in support of Rob’s legacy!
Please VOTE HERE by 'liking' this SAWFISH photo on the UN Environment page: goo.gl/4Z9LsZ
