This is Aboud. 3 years old. A Syrian refugee.
He came running into my arms, shouting n laughing out loud the moment he saw me arrive at his camp a few nights ago.
We had the chance to sleep at the camp. That night, he came to me saying he was sleepy. I picked him up n sang "Sayang" to him n he fell asleep exactly at the end of the song.
I love you. N i miss you. All of you. Oh Allah, permit me to come back n make them smile again. Paradise awaits all of u for as long as u keep ur faith in Allah. Insha'Allah. Ameen.

Selepas 6 hari 5 malam berada di dalam penjara Jordan, alhamdulillah sebentar lagi saya akan bertolak ke Malaysia.
.
Saya dihalau keluar tatkala pengajian saya hanya berbaki beberapa bulan. Saya redha. Tetapi sedikit terkilan apabila alasan yang diberi adalah hanya kerana 'membantu pelarian Syria di Jordan'.
.
Doakan saya terus kuat. Kerana ujian itu sifatnya menguatkan. Bukan melemahkan.
.
.
Biarlah gambar saya digari ini menjadi kenangan sampai bila-bila.
.
Saya pasti akan bercerita tentang semuanya kelak. Insya Allah.

After 6 DAYS 5 nights in Jordan jail, alhamdulillah soon I will be off to Malaysia.
.
I was kicked out when my studies were only a few months left. I accept it. But a little upset when the reason given is just because 'helping the Syrian refugee in Jordan'.
.
Pray for me to stay strong. Because the test is the nature of strengthening. Not weakening.
.
I will definitely miss my friend in arms there. Also the Syrian children I have considered like my own child.
.
A glimpse of yasir and friends dancing according to the rhythm of the gummy bear, Nur's laugh and friends at the camp while asking me to push the swing. Oh God, please be brave for your servant to face this very sudden breakup.
.
I would also like to thank all the parties that helped me a lot in the prison. Family, friends and embassy of Malaysia in Jordan.
.
Let my picture of this handcuffs be a memory forever.
.
I will definitely talk about everything later. God willing.Translated

[HOW WOULD YOU ESCAPE NORTH KOREA? (THE 7 CHOICES)]
If you were living in North Korea right now - trying to survive on a diet of rats, grass, soil and tree bark, quenching your thirst by drinking out of mud puddles in the ground - what would you do?
There's also the conceivable chance of being sent to a political prison camp for years on end just because you innocently thought out loud one day to a bunch of friends (North Korean propaganda is strong), where you are then beaten, tortured, and left so hungry that you are forced to dig and consume the grains out of faeces, or the maggots from dead bodies just so you have the energy to perhaps last one more day.
You'd probably wanna escape. But how?
The North Korean government in Pyongyang refuses to let its citizens leave, a clear violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, viewing North Korean defectors as traitorous criminals. Captured North Koreans would be subject to unimaginable torture and often public executions.
If they are successful in their escape, then three to four generations of their family back home would be sent to North Korean prison camps to rot ....or worse. This is a strong deterrent.
But this still doesn't stop desperate North Koreans from tempting fate. In this video, I'll go over the seven ways to escape the DPRK, including the most dangerous, the most unforgiving, the most unique, and the most unexpected.
The North Korean border on the south side (ie. South Korean border / Korean DMZ) is the shortest distance to travel for safety and stability but as a result, the regime makes it dangerously hard. A North Korean escapee can be shot down by North Korean soldiers (border guards) or step on the many landmines in the area.
The northern border to China has it's own set of challenges. Most North Korean refugees escape through this way, usually crossing the Tumen River border (like the famous North Korean defector Hyeonseo Lee). Once in China, the nightmare doesn't end there.
There are also other, more unconventional ways you can try to escape such as through North Korean labor camps.
Even if you make it to safety and resettle in a stable country, the North Korean regime will still try to hunt you down, so you're never truly safe. Especially if you're an outspoken critic or a threat to Kim Jong-un's power - just ask his half brother, Kim Jong-nam.

The Vietnamese refugee experience is a part of Vietnamese history that must be remembered and shared. After the fall of Saigon, millions of Vietnamese people fled the land and went to the seas. Some paid the ultimate price, while others were sent to refugee camps throughout Asia. Galang in Indonesia was one of the largest refugee boat people camps. Some people have spent almost 10 years there awaiting a new parent country in the west, such as America, Canada, Australia, or Denmark. Today, Galang Ex Vietnam Camp is a sleepy tourist attraction that rarely gets any visitors. Luckily, I met Abu Galang, who grew up here and hung out with the Vietnamese kids. He showed me around and gave a more thorough tour and answered many of my questions. Either way, this experience was eye opening for me and allowed me to at least be where the refugees were. Second generation Vietnamese people must take note of such history.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this video possible.

Not knowing very much about the Philippines before I visited, I was pleasantly surprised by Manila and Subic and how they both reminded me of America. The highlight of the trip was getting a chance to visit a Vietnamese boat people refugee camp near Baataan. I met some friendly Pinoys too. The food was great. The transportation readily available. And the landscape extremely beautiful. There are plenty to see and do as well.
