A stock taking moment.
A few years ago while I was still very much involved in styling work, I walked into a modeling agency and told them I wanted to put myself out there as a model.
The booker was completely surprised and asked me why I wanted to do that. I just knew I wanted to know the industry more. After 20 years working behind the scenes, I’m ready to explore the other side of the camera.
That period was a time when physically I was very skinny but I didn’t feel less and in fact, I kept working at my confidence being in front of the camera without comparing myself with other models. I was also much older than most beautiful girls out there and so I worked at not letting that gnaw into my self-worth.
Three years later, I have built this confidence to be ready, without rush but also without delay.
Someone told me once, why would you want to be a model, models can only do what they’re told, well, to be honest a model who knows her value while being able to understand fully the clients’ needs as well as be in teamwork with the production crew, is an enormous treasure to the modelling, creative and advertising industry, don’t you agree?
I couldn’t hold that back from the world now, could I? ❤️
