Saddened to learn of the powerful earthquake that struck Nepal earlier today. My deepest sympathies and condolences to the many families affected.
In particular, the Gurkhas in our Gurkha Contingent must be worried about families and friends back home. Our thoughts are with them.
The quake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest. We have a team of Singaporeans on it – they are climbing Mt Everest to celebrate SG50 ( Aluminaid Team Singapura Everest 2015). I’m relieved that they are safe. – LHL
