#US🇺🇸 secretary of state Mike Pompeo hit out at what he called “corporate acquiescence to the CCP” in a recent speech at The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum at which several Chinese dissidents were present, pointing to self-censorship from #Hollywood to hotel and airline designations due to pressure from Beijing. He echoed President Trump’s call for “Enough!” – enough to empty promises, enough to the ignoring of human rights abuses, enough to marginalizing #Taiwan.
MOFA is grateful to the secretary of state for reaffirming US support for Taiwan's democratic institutions as a partner in the region.

立陶宛分別於今年 10/11 及 10/25 舉行第一輪及第二輪國會大選，由「祖國聯盟－基督教民主黨」(Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats)、「自由黨」(Freedom Party) 及「自由運動黨」(Liberal Movement of the Republic of Lithuania) 等三黨組成的新執政聯盟，取得立陶宛國會過半數席次，新屆國會議員預定於11月下旬前就任。

The new ruling coalition in Lithuania has issued a coalition agreement committing to carry out a values-based foreign policy, firmly opposing #HumanRights violations, and repression of democratic freedoms, as well as standing up for those fighting for freedom around the world in countries like Belarus and Taiwan.

MOFA would like to send our sincere thanks to the country on behalf of the 23 million Taiwanese people.
The nod to Taiwan follows on from 60 parliamentarians in the country signing a letter in support of Taiwan's participation in the WHO at the end of October.
