思考一下：…當一杯世界頂級的紅酒要價>$10,000, 為何人們對於一杯咖啡的價錢如此敏感？一包在精品咖啡店或是賣場能買到的咖啡豆可以製作50-100杯（隨著杯量改變），意即我們平均為一杯咖啡付出的價格少於$0.05.

幾十年以來咖啡被預設為便宜的產品。加強鞏固著一個過時的咖啡生產系統，繼續給付工人低劣的工資，為增產而破壞環境。咖啡為除了石油之外最大的交易，一年有約5億公斤的咖啡豆從莊園流入市場。
而這之中，微乎其微的金額回到莊園，維持這個國際咖啡因供應鏈。

有趣的是，當你多付一點點金額（$0.20 一杯 或是$10-$20 一包），若這些金額能夠流回莊園內，世界可以被改變。種植遮蔭樹，恢復被破壞的生態系統，減緩全球暖化。給予工人們數倍的工資，改變他們對於生產低品質咖啡的慣性，而提高咖啡品質。

消費者有權知道，他們所消費的高價咖啡是否流回至莊園。是否購買這杯咖啡，也在投資著樹林重建，咖啡莊園進化，還有當然最重要的，咖啡風味是否卓越？當然，對現今的多數消費者而言，許多人的味覺已經習慣了低品質的咖啡（透過糖跟奶的修飾）。但宏觀一點來看，高品質的咖啡，除了改變手中的那杯飲品，也拯救著世界。
