This was taken in our new office! Never have I thought that I would go back to working in an office again. But here's a long ass essay to make up for missing last week haaaaa
Back when I resigned from my last job to pursue streaming, I felt great. No more clocking in everyday, going through stupid ass jams, and leaving late. (Cause I used to stream after Im done with work in the office, sometimes I still continue working after stream ends)
Then after roughly 2 years ish of so called "freedom", it started to feel like I'm working 24/7. Everyday I wake up, I sit infront of my monitor until the day ends. There was no separation between work and rest.
I question my productivity, I keep asking myself why am I not doing enough or why did I do more back then than now. It was so damaging I would sometimes just break down.
Fast forward to the last year, starting this new journey with my team. It was hectic af not gonna lie, and I feel like I don't sleep or rest at all. Cause my resting place IS my work place and I'll be rooted on my chair the whole day and I still feel like work isn't done.
And now after a year of hard work and alot of crying, seeing how everyone's hard work paid off, and how we finally have an office feels pretty damn good.
I felt that I'm back on track alittle. I can start doing more things like how I used to. And most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough that having the presence of the team physically really boosted my morale alot. Comms were much faster and no more misreading emotions or feelings in text. Texting is so fkn tiring sometimes but I'll talk about that another time.
The line between work and rest is finally drawn. I could come home and abit of me time.
TLDR, Working from home ain't for me. I thought it was a good idea but nah man. Plus my new office is comfy xd

I want to share with you a disturbing statistic I came across the other day...
In my city, Vancouver, there are 70 neighborhoods. And out of those 70 neighbourhoods, do you know how many of them minimum-wage workers can afford to live in?
It’s a very easy number to remember…
ZERO.
And I’m not talking about buying a condo or a property…
I’m not talking about renting in the city centre or renting some 2 or 3 bedroom apartment somewhere...
I’m just talking about renting ONE single bedroom apartment.
According to The Star Vancouver - minimum wage workers can’t afford a one bedroom apartment ANYWHERE in Vancouver.
And minimum-wage workers would need up to DOUBLE what they currently make to afford a one bedroom rental in most parts of Vancouver.
And as housing keeps becoming more expensive, it’s going to get worse.
So how do they survive?
Well, they have to get creative.
Some live very far out of town (2 hours away by car) and they commute for hours every day.
Some team up and pool their resources together and get as many roommates as possible.
And others just work two full-time jobs…
Anything they can do to make it.
And...
Minimum Wage Isn’t Just A Problem In Vancouver
Toronto, the largest city in Canada, has the same problem.
And in the U.S., there’s NO single state where a minimum-wage 40-hour worker can afford any comfortable two-bedroom apartment...
It’s really bad.
If you’re going through this like I did.
Or if you know someone that is going through this, let me just tell you right now...
You have to do something about this FAST. Because it’s not going to get easier.
I remember when I was working a minimum wage job like yesterday.
People didn’t appreciate me. I was replaceable. And the longer I worked - the harder it became to break out.
The debt started to build up.
I had to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag while my mom slept on the bed.
And we were even afraid at times of getting kicked out of our apartment.
...with no idea where we would go.
And that was almost two decades ago! Back when rent was cheaper.
So I can’t imagine how people are still making it happen today.
This is serious... and it’s getting more difficult every. single. month.
Getting a 4-year education isn’t enough now. Getting two jobs only fixes this problem in the short term.
And if you already have a family or want to start one... pooling with other minimum wage workers won’t work either.
You need something else.
A competitive advantage.
Now it’s going to take you some work. And I don’t know if this is going to work for everyone…

Learn how to recognise symptoms of mild altitude sickness, as well as the potentially deadly HAPE and HACE (fluid in the lungs/brain). Plenty of advice on how to prepare for the trek, plan a safe itinerary, and what to pack.
Follow our family, including our 11-year old son Lionel, on the Annapurna Circuit in winter. See how the altitude affected us as we climbed Thorong La (5,416 meters/ 17769 feet) – Kirk struggled with his breathing, Lionel felt nauseous, and I had mild hypothermia But we all made it safely in the end.
SUMMARY
*Watch out: some people may feel unwell as low as 2,000 meter (6,500 feet).
*Plan a slower ascent above 3,000 meters (10,000 feet)
*Climb high, sleep low. To be safe, only gain 300 meters (1,000 feet) in sleeping elevation at high altitude.
*If you climb faster than the recommended rate, you can build a rest days every three or four days to acclimatise.
*If you suffer from mild altitude sickness, drink a lot, and rest
*Avoid alcohol, which slows down breathing and makes you dehydrated. Avoid sleeping pills. And smoking will certainly not help!
*If you see no improvement, spend an extra night at the same altitude
*If you feel worse, descend to the last place where you felt well
*If you develop HAPE or HACE, this is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate descent of and specialist medical care. You may have to descend in the middle of the night, don't wait till morning. Once fluid builds up in the brain or lungs, you can die in a matter of hours.
DISCLAIMER
This video is based on first-hand experience of struggling with the altitude on the Annapurna Circuit. We also spent decades of travelling in the Himalayas and Alps. With three decades in TV journalism, I've also done extensive research on the impact of high altitude.
I am NOT a doctor, and I do not have direct experience of taking drugs for altitude sickness like Diamox / Acetazolamide or Nifedipine for HAPE or the use of Gamow bags for hyperbaric treatment. So I have not included any information on this topic. Only sticking to what I have first-hand experience of.
I hope this video helps you plan a safe and enjoyable trek.
