THRIFT SHOP >< SECONDHAND

Đúng vậy – hẳn các bạn sẽ nhớ super hit của rapper Mĩ nổi vang một thời với các hits “Thriftshop” “Can’t Hold us” với duo cùng Ryan Lewis. Có lẽ Macklemore cũng không nghĩ rằng thị trường mua đồ cũ hay đã qua sử dụng sau hơn 8 năm lại trở thành một xu hướng của Gen Z – nhưng nó cũng chứng minh cho các bạn thấy. Thriftshop hay secondhand – đã là một thứ gì đó lâu đời lắm rồi. Thông qua những lời bài hát đầu tiên của Macklemore/Thriftshop/ chúng ta cũng mường tượng được cảnh đi săn đà si đô:

“I’m gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
I, I, I’m hunting, looking for a come -up
This is f*cking awesome”

Nôm na là

Nhưng có 1 số thứ mình muốn chia sẻ về Thrift shop cũng như để các bạn hiểu thêm và tránh hiểu nhầm về hai từ “Thriftshop” và “Secondhand Clothing”.

Đầu tiên, Thrift Shop không phải là một danh từ chỉ để riêng về thời trang. Có nghĩa là khi bạn đi thrift – không có nghĩa là bạn chỉ chăm chăm đi mua quần áo. Trái lại, bạn có thể mua bất cứ thứ gì khi thrifting, tủ lạnh cũ, máy giặt, máy sấy, dao, giầy, thắt lưng, sách và thậm chí là cả nồi niêu, xoong chảo, băng cassette. Tất nhiên mọi thứ vẫn phải dùng được và đảm bảo tính năng của nó – chỉ có điều là nó không mới và tuổi thọ đã giảm một phần, nhưng được cái là giá vô cùng rẻ và hợp lí cho những người nào có điều kiện tài chính eo hẹp.

Mục đích của Thriftshop (Không biết bây giờ như thế nào mà hồi xưa mình ở Úc vẫn giữ nguyên mục đích này) là hệ thống các cửa hàng sử dụng việc bán đồ củ để quyên góp tiền cho các tổ chức từ thiện và phi lợi nhuận. Ban tổ chức các Thriftshop sẽ kêu gọi mọi người không xài đồ gì nữa thì có thể bán hoặc đóng góp tự nguyện cho các địa điểm cửa hàng của họ. Số tiền thu được từ việc bán đồ cũ sau khi trả lại cho người bán (Nếu họ tính phí – mà thông thường là ủng hộ, phí thường rất nhỏ/mang tính tượng trưng) thì được trích 1 phần cho chi phí hoạt động cửa hàng và toàn bộ còn lại được làm quỹ từ thiện.

TẠI SAO THRIFT SHOP PHÁT TRIỂN?

Ngày xưa, đời sống con người còn khổ cực và quần áo không có nhiều để mặc. Thiên tai, chiến tranh (Đặc biệt là WW1,WW2) bòn rút nền kinh tế bên cạnh các cuộc đại suy thoái, người ta thường có xu hướng sửa đồ cũ hơn là mua đồ mới (Cũng từ đó có các kĩ thuật thuê, dệt kim hay nhuộm vải, patchwork như Boro Nhật bản bây giờ). Khi các cuộc cải cách và thời kì công nghiệp hóa mở đường cho thời trang sản xuất số lượng lớn và hàng loạt – người ta mới mua đồ nhiều hơn và song song, sẽ vứt bỏ những món đồ cũ.

Thêm đó, thời bình khiến con người ăn – ngủ – nghỉ – have s*x đều đặn nên dân số cứ gọi là tăng rào rào. Người đông, đất lại chật nên không có nhiều không gian để trữ đồ (Như việc nhà các bạn ngày xưa hay có cái nhà kho í, giờ hết rùi) cho nên người ta thường vứt đồ đạc, quần áo ra ngoài đường. Lại được cả thêm tính sĩ diện cao khi mà cái nhìn kỳ thị về việc mặc đồ cũ hay đồ người khác đã mặc là biểu hiện của cái sự nghèo, của sự thiếu thốn tiền bạc nên đống đồ cũ đó – mặc dù còn rất tốt và sử dụng được – chỉ chờ nằm ra bãi rác.

Thế là Thrift Shop xuất hiện, giải quyết toàn bộ các vấn đề trên. Người ta có 1 nơi để vừa giải phóng không gian trong nhà, vừa được mang là làm từ thiện – một bên thì không phải mang danh quá lớn về việc “Sử dụng đồ cũ của người khác” vì họ cũng trả tiền cho món đồ đó mà và dĩ nhiên, cũng là làm từ thiện. Hai bên được củng cố lòng tin nên các cửa hàng Thriftshop phát triển tăng vọt, đáp ứng với nhu cầu của thị trường. Mỗi con đường có thời điểm ít nhất là có 1 Thrift shop.

Thrift shop thời hiện đại đã bài bản và chiến lược hơn rất nhiều. Có những tập đoàn hay công ty lớn quản lý các chuỗi cửa hàng thrift shop và biến dây chuyền này thực sự thành 1 cỗ máy đếm tiền khi là một bên trung gian thu mua đồ và phân phối cho đại chúng với mức giá siêu hợp lí. Số lượng nhiều, giá rẻ. Đời sống con người càng cao – cộng với “Consumerism”/Sức mua hàng vô tội va” làm nguồn hàng áo cũ, đồ cũ tung ra ngoài thế giới là vô cùng tận. Mà hầu hết toàn là các chất liệu khó tái chế và bền bỉ theo thời gian, việc các Thriftshop lưu trữ lại giống như 1 cơ hội dành cho những người muốn trải nghiệm nhưng với mức giá mà họ chấp nhận được.

Bên cạnh đó, cái hay của Thriftshop chính là tính “Lưu Trữ” hay gọi là Archived về Xu hướng. Mình luôn nói “Thời trang là một vòng lặp” – thì Thriftshop như 1 cái ổ cứng di dộng để save những xu hướng đã qua, lưu hành nội bộ nó và mang nó ra trở lại đại chúng khi cái vòng lặp đó quay 1 vòng hoàn chỉnh. Có thể nói một phần các fashion vibe từ thập niên 80s/90s trở lại Việt Nam mạnh mẽ cũng nhờ một phần là sự hoàn thiện và phát triển của các secondhand store/online store khi mà các bạn founders cũng chủ động chụp hình, làm những campaign lookbook/clip liên quan đến số đồ và vibe đồ mà họ đang có. Điều này cũng đẩy mạnh tinh thần thời trang cổ điển hoặc thời xưa quay lại khi mỗi brand/store đều có một lượng khách hàng trung thành của nhau.

Đó – hệ sinh thái thời trang này, nó là 1 hệ sinh thái vòng lặp, kín và khá thú vị. Mọi thứ diễn ra đều có lý do của nó cả.

Diorama - Miniature Japanese Summer Beach
I tried making a diorama, with the sea in Japan in summer as the theme.
I bought the materials such as polystyrene and clay in a 100-yen shop.
For the paint, I chose ones that are easy to get hold of, or ones that can be used without specialist techniques.
The small objects placed on the beach are made by TOMYTEC.

ジオラマ　ミニチュア海水浴場作り
海水浴客で賑わう小さな日本の砂浜を作ってみました。
材料は100円ショップで手に入れたボードや発泡スチロール、粘土などを利用して、塗料は手に入りやすいものやテクニックがなくてもそれっぽく仕上げられそうなものを選んで使ってみました。砂はジオラマ用ではなく飼育中のハムスターの砂風呂用を利用しました。小物類はTOMYTECの情景コレクション、バスコレクションを利用しました。本当は松の木も植えたかったんですが売り切れだったので我慢しました('ω')
スケールは1/150です。
バスには大洗と書かれていますが砂浜の設定は架空のものです。
