ไปที่รถตู้"คนหัวใจสิงห์" ผมได้เห็นคุณ
ยายท่านหนึ่ง นั่งอยู่ที่หน้าประตูหน้าบ้าน
เหมือนกับชะเง้อมองอะไรบางอย่าง ผม
ก็เลยแวะเข้าไปหาคุณยาย คำถามแรกที่
ผมถามคุณยาย คุณยายมานั่งทำอะไร
ครับ คุณยายบอกว่า ได้ยินเสียงคนเยอะ
แยะก็เลยคลานออกมาฟัง(คุณยายตาบอด) ผมรู้สึกสงสารขึ้นมาจับใจ และได้พูด
คุยอยู่เกือบ30นาที ได้ใจความว่า ยายตา
บอดมาตั้งแต่อายุ20ปี ตอนสาวๆก็รับจ้างทำ
นาทั้งๆที่ตาบอด มีลูก1คนเป็นผู้ชาย สติก็ไม่ค่อยดี อายุ60ปี ส่วนคุณยายก็
93ปี ตอนนี้ทางผู้ใหญ่บ้านก็ช่วยดูแล
คอยเอาข้าวเอาน้ำมาให้ และชาวบ้าน
แถวนั้นก็ช่วยดูด้วย ก่อนจะกลับผมแกล้ง
ถามยายว่า ยายมีเงินเท่าไร ยายบอกมี
ไม่มากหรอก มีคนเอามาให้ทีล่ะบาทสอง
บาท ยายก็เปิดประเป๋าเสื้อให้ดู มีเงินอยู่
14บาท ยายบอกเก็บเอาไว้ให้ลูก ผมไม่รู้
จะพูดอะไรอีก(ลูกจะขอทีล่ะ2บาท)ก็เลย
ให้เงินยายไว้5,000บาทโดยผู้ใหญ่บ้าน
จะคอยดูแลให้ ถ้ายายต้องการจะซื้อหรือ
จะทานอะไร น่าสงสารครับอยู่กับลูกที่สติ
ก็ไม่ค่อยดี แต่ตอนนี้ผมเชื่อว่าชาวบ้าน
ในละแวกนั้นจะดูแลคุณยายอย่างดีครับ

คำตอบ : ผมว่าเวลาเราชอบใคร เราไม่ค่อยนึกถึงความสุขความทุกข์ของเขาเท่าไหร่นะครับ คือชอบอยู่ห่างๆ แต่ไม่ได้คิดซับซ้อนนัก แต่ถ้าความชอบนั้นพัฒนาไปเป็นความรักแล้วนี่เราเริ่มมีเอี่ยวทางความรู้สึก (แม้จะมีเอี่ยวในชีวิตหรือไม่ก็ตามเถอะ) เราจะเริ่มอยากเห็นเขามีความสุข ปรารถนาดี หวังดีกับเขา เริ่มอยากอยู่ใกล้ อยากสุขไปด้วยกัน และถ้าทุกข์ก็ขอแบ่งปันความทุกข์นั้นด้วยคน

ในแง่นี้ ความรู้สึก "รัก" มีระยะของความรู้สึกที่ใกล้ชิดกว่า "ชอบ" อยู่ไม่น้อยเลยทีเดียว

เวลารักใคร เราจะรู้สึกอยากมีส่วนในชีวิตของเขา ผมนึกถึงคำพูดของ "เจ้าชายน้อย" ในหนังสือของออนตวน แซงเต็ก ซูเปรี นะครับ ที่เจ้าชายน้อยพูดถึงดอกกุหลาบของเขาบนดาว B612 ว่าที่มันเป็นดอกกุหลาบดอกเดียวในจักรวาลที่แตกต่างกันดอกกุหลาบอื่นๆ ทั่วไป ก็เพราะเขาให้เวลากับมัน รดน้ำพรวนดิน คอยดูแล เอาโหลแก้วมาครอบกันลมให้ คอยดูแลไม่ให้วัชพืชมาทำลาย

ความรักเกิดจากการใช้เวลาร่วมกัน ขณะที่ความชอบอาจจะเกิดขึ้นฉับพลันทันใดในระยะไกลโดยไม่ต้องรู้จักอะไรมากนัก

ส่วนตัวแล้วผมคิดว่า ความรักที่แท้จริงคือการมองเห็นทั้งด้านดีและร้าย ทั้งด้านสวยงามและอัปลักษณ์ของคนที่เรารัก เราปรับใจ ยอมรับในสิ่งที่ไม่ถูกใจ เพราะตัวเราเองก็มีด้านอัปลักษณ์หรือสิ่งที่ไม่ถูกใจเขาเช่นกัน
