The wild is in decline. We have degraded three quarters of all wild places and pushed more than 1 million species to the brink of extinction. More than half of Earth’s remaining wild areas could disappear in the next few decades if we don’t decisively act. This is why today, I am honored to support the launch of Rewild.org - to protect what’s still wild and help restore the rest.
As part of our first undertaking, Re:wild is supporting Parque Nacional Galápagos and Island Conservation with a $43 million commitment to help rewild the Galápagos. This includes returning the Pink Iguana, the Floreana Giant Tortoise and the Floreana Mockingbird to their wild homes, and ensuring the people of the Galápagos thrive with the wild.
Re:wild offers a bold vision to amplify and scale the local solutions being led by Indigenous peoples and local communities, nongovernmental organizations, companies, and government agencies, to help increase their positive impact around the world. Because we don’t need to reinvent the planet, we just need to rewild it.
When I travelled to the Galápagos Islands, I met with Paula A. Castaño from Island Conservation, one of several environmental heroes in Ecuador working day in and day out to save one of the most irreplaceable places on the planet. Later today, Paula will be taking over my Instagram Story to share more about her team’s rewilding efforts in the Galápagos. I’m excited to share her team’s work and to support the longstanding effort to protect and restore these iconic islands.

一隻巨龜🐢現身南美洲加拉帕戈斯群島（Galapagos Islands，又稱科隆群島、加拉巴哥群島），讓科學家都震驚了！
這是一隻雌性費爾南迪納巨龜（學名：Chelonoidis phantasticus），該物種被認為在一個世紀前已滅絕，牠們上一次被發現還是在1906年。
2019年，人們在費爾南迪納島的一次探險中發現了她。科學家從她身上取樣做基因測試，與一隻雄性費爾南迪納巨龜的標本作比較，現在終於證實她就是費爾南迪納巨龜。
費爾南迪納島是加拉帕戈斯群島中最年輕及活躍的火山島，故有「人間地獄」之稱。
科學家估計，這隻雌性巨龜已經100多歲了！
厄瓜多爾慶祝這一好消息，環境部長古斯塔沃·曼里克（Gustavo Manrique）發佈推文說：「希望仍存！」

科隆群島（Galapagos Islands）位於厄瓜多爾西面約一千公里外的太平洋海域，經歷數百萬年來的火山活動，形成了13座大島，以及超過120座小島與岩礁，是全世界最原始的島嶼生態系統之一。著名自然學家達爾文於1835年到訪科隆群島後，得到重大啟發，繼而思考出驚為天人的進化論，亦促使他其後發表一本對生物學界極其重要的著作，名為《物種起源》，因此科隆群島又稱為「進化論島」。
被譽為野生動物天堂的科隆群島絕非浪得虛名，我們在這裏還近距離觀賞了很多野生動物，包括世界上唯一一種會游泳的海鬣蜥、淘氣的海獅、充滿霸氣的陸鬣蜥、用情專一的信天翁等等。還有數之不盡的熱帶魚、珊瑚、鯊魚、魔鬼魚和綠海龜等海洋生物，相信全球只有科隆群島能夠讓遊客可以不費吹灰之力，觀賞到如此多樣化的野生動物。
